i am pretty sure that there are at least a couple (killdozersnakeboy, maybe another ex-pat?)...a friend of mine has a brother who is spending a semester abroad and will be living in Dunedin...it's been over 15 years since i have been there, so any suggestions on places to see, things to do, cool spots for eating and drinking,  etc would be appreciated.  PMs are fine Very Happy

It's about time the NZers take back the internet again, what with you lot forgetting about the Kiwi contingent. KDSB, GCR and Anne are born-and-bred NZers, I've been living there for four years (but am currently out of the country for a bit). There's also a bunch of people who used to post but don't any more. I can't help you re: Dunedin, but maybe one of the others can.

I would never forget! The Kiwi contingent is one of my favorite things about this place!

N.Z! N.Z! N.Z! Whooooooooooooooooo!
I haven't been to Dunedin in a while, but many cool and excellent bands from this country are from there, and it is a lovely scene in terms of good, friendly and welcoming people. Port Chalmers is a good part of town to hang out - Chicks bar is apparently an awesome venue there. The whitebait fritters are supposed to be incredible.
In town... there's a lovely old theatre, and I think the Arc cafe is still around? That was a good place to hang out, last time I was there anyway. And The Hocken gallery and museum.
I like Dunedin, but damn I couldn't live there. I do not cope well with cold, and I NEVER felt warm in that city.

I have friends in Dunedin, but they're all old like me, so not sure how much help they'd be (and they're all Aussie expats)...
