I've never been fond of the idea of seeing reformed 70's bands but Goblin are playing Melbourne in a couple of months. They'll be playing the Town Hall and have access to the grand organ there. I'm excited about the prospect to say the least.

that sound rather cool.

my experience of the Neu (aka Halllogallo) and Harmonium reunion shows was that it was really worth seeing.

Bought our tickets to Fiona Apple yesterday. Kinda made me sick to my stomach how expensive they were, but what are you gonna do. It's an opportunity that might not come around again.

Yeah, I noticed she is playing in San Francisco a day before I get there, but when I saw the price I couldn't believe my eyes and felt much less sorry that the timing didn't work out.

Wow. I didn't know she was that famous. I've never even heard/seen her, I don't think.

I'm pretty sure she isn't that famous, that's the craziest part of it!

How much were they?

For the Atlanta show, they were $50 + $12.50 in fees. I'm not sure I've ever paid that much for a concert -- maybe once or twice before.

I mean, that's at least $10 more than the Pavement reunion show; $20 more than Afghan Whigs.

Whoah...that sounds pretty awesome, actually.   As they point out on the town hall tour, that is the largest organ in the southern hemisphere!  I'm not terribly familiar with Goblin, but I have heard some interesting bits here and there.

it was completely awesome. not usually at a loss for words, but i've got no idea how to describe lisa gerrard's vocal genius.

got a great shirt i'll put on & post to the fashion thread when i get a chance. it's basically just the words DEAD CAN DANCE over a full solar eclipse. when i wear it, i feel pussy power.

I don't really know what Negativland does live, but I would love to find out.

Saint Vitus is a really awesome doom metal band. Probably not your thing? But I bet they'd be super fun live.

Also, someone I never expected to share a bill with Jeff Mangum.
