It made me feel really good to do. I *never* just knock out a cover of a song I love in ten minutes anymore. I need to do this more.
Crap, I apparently missed out on this?

I think I'ma fix one of the vocal tracks and put it back up. Or maybe just put it back up. Either way, it ain't gone for good.

Wow, Katie, that is a real thing there. All you're missing is a hypeman saying "y'all know our words: a lannister always sprays his nut."
And, now, Jeb...I fixed this up a little bit. I might actually add some other instruments to it later this week. Just...working on stuff for twenty minutes and putting it up is super fun. Wooooo.

HF, I like this song! I'd say go ahead and record your album in whatever manner you have access to right now. You can always rerecord songs if your circumstances change, but if you're itching to get songs on tape, that's an energy you can't just conjure back up.
I wrote a new song last night
off of this riff I'd been messing with for a while and getting nowhere. But I was between recording a play rehearsal and a late meeting last night, I had an hour to blow at the practice space, so that time crunch got me to work out the arrangement and lyrics really quickly. It felt really good--this is the first song I've written on my own in a long time.

It's good! Reminds me of Devin Davis's Lonely People album a bit. Which is a very good thing. I also hear a sort of Bright Eyes vibe.

Nice Maaik! I really envy people who can write/play music.

Myke, dig yours too. It REALLY makes me want to figure out how to make sounds with an electric. I love the fuzzy low end.

Ain't no shame in getting a solo acoustic version done, and then just having the masters from that for overdubs when you can get more studio time or the right musicians together.

Ain't very hard. That's my Tele run straight into my Seymour Duncan head, so the overdrive is all from the amp. I tune CGDGBE, so that's the low end. Plus I play with
steel picks
, so that helps the attack and destroys the finish on my guitars.
Switching from acoustic to electric is mostly about getting used to the feel of not having to hit the strings quite as hard (I still do), dealing with less tension on the strings and realizing you can probably make a lot more mistakes no one's going to notice once you hit the distortion. I think Jeb could probably talk more about this--Dear Astronaut definitely evolved from acoustic to electric. I'd be interested to hear his take on it.

Myke the riff & fuzz are both really awesome, just listened to it real loud at my job for the other corporate slaves to hear. Curious about trying out this C tuning too.
Thanks for the feedback too everyone, really appreciate it. I keep thinking that 10 songs with just a voice and a guitar won't grab people's attention. Maybe I'll add some other instruments after the fact and get myself into debt a little more. Either way appreciate y'all listening

The C tuning is great once you figure out how to make chords with it. Since it's still mostly standard tuning, you get this really nice mix of mid, bass and treble. And the two Gs are an octave apart, so there's a lot you can do with that.
