Hey what are you gonna be for Halloween?

I'm borrowing a fake wool-lined jean jacket and I'm gonna stop shaving for a week or so and going as a tenth grade pot dealer.
As far as little-to-no-effort costumes go, this is up there with the year I wore red jeans and my See Rock City shirt and went as a barn.
Wh-wh-what are you guys doing?

Oh man K that would be awesome! You could definitely pull it off, too.
I really really really wanna dress up this year, as I haven't for the past couple of years running. Dunno what, though, or even where we'll be spending Halloween.

This is fantastic!
I was gonna be Lobo for the NYC Comic Con, but then realized I can't go to the con after all, so I got this Lobo costume, so I'm gonna be Lobo, most likely.
LOBO'S BACK
I think my lady might be doing a similar DC villain thing and dressing as Poison Ivy.

That's just Maaik's costume with fishnets instead of pants, plus cat ears.

I kept trying to convince my coworkers that one of them needed to go as a sexy baby. Don't think anybody is going to, though.

The girl I am seeing is currently enamored with Scott Pilgrim and is going as Ramona Flowers and attempting to recruit people to be members of the League of Evil Ex-Boyfriends.
After some discussion, we have decided that it will be OK if I go as Scott Pilgrim.

Considering a number of costumes for the baby, including Sherlock Holmes, Paddington Bear, a locomotive conductor, and Jackie O.

I was going to be Charlie Chaplin but some friends have invited me to go to the Million Moderate March or whatever it is called Halloween weekend, so I think I am not being anything except the only smoker in a car of nonsmokers carpooling down to Washington DC.

HI NNY HOW ARE THINGS
Not to derail, but is everyone on board with this anti-Beck rally thing? It seems a little asinine to me, especially considering that weekend could be better spent, y'know, actively working to defeat politicians who may actually attempt to enact some of his insane ideas.

Since it's like 10 minutes from my house I figured I'd check it out.

Possibly! We'd likely be spending part of the day outside, checking out the parade, so I could smoke it then, but as for the rest of the evening, we'd likely just be getting drinks someplace.

I hadn't considered anything about the rally other than the fact that I cannot remember the last time I took a road trip and assuming my friends get more participants than me to go it will be really cheap because we have a floor to stay on. And I have never been to DC.

Haha, Million Moderate March is awesome.
Also, Nog, I like where you are going about the fishnets and kitty ears, but I assumed that a sexy baby would be, like, diapers and thigh highs and...that's as far as I got before Tom Cruise from Minority Report kicked in my door.

I'm on board with the spirit of the thing, but:
1) I think that calling the attendants "moderate" is a little silly
2) I don't think it's going to do anything, save maybe show that there are at least as many people out there who are willing to attend this kind of rally as are Beck's.
3) I don't know what you think could be done to defeat "politicians who may actually attempt to enact some of his insane ideas", or if those people really exist.

Well considering it's the weekend before election day, a lot of things could be done--canvassing, for one. And if you're unsure whether people espousing Beck-style unconsidered pan-conservative jingoistic positions predicated on fear and hate actually exist, I'd invite you to take a look at the GOP nominees in both the Delaware and Nevada Senate races.

Yeah man, just glance at Sharron Angle's WP page. She's within striking distance of unseating the senate majority leader, for god's sake. She's one Goldline endorsement away from BEING one of those nutcases.
By 2012 opposition to fluoridation will definitely be a prerequisite for ideologically pure conservatism.
But yeah, as far as the first point goes: all's I'm saying is that if your political convictions run any deeper than the level of snark (not that mine do, necessarily) the time/money/energy spent getting to that rally could probably be better spent getting out the vote.

I mean, I get that there are dangerously idiotic people running and everything, but I kind of take a dim view on the idea of the effectiveness of canvassing. It's kind of like saying "hey, come see my band" to a complete stranger, except a million times more boring.

Yeah, same here. Even if I espouse their views, a dickhead coming to my door to interrupt me is still a dickhead coming to my door to interrupt me.
