IM exchange had today with coldforge:

Me: What are you guys doing tonight

cf: Huh? What?

Me: Are you like going to a party or anything?

cf: Why? Is there a party going on?

Me: It's... Halloween.

cf: Oh. I don't really go to parties.

That is heavily edited.

For clarity and privacy, though! It's not like I have you making a pass at me.

I went to the thrift store and bought old rumpled tweedy clothes and I got a pipe and I am wearing this and gesturing with the pipe when I talk and telling people my costume is "English Professor" though the secret name of my costume is "Miles 10 years in the future."  Briggins gets partial credit on this very lazy costume idea.

So what's the part we've got to wait 10 years for then, the pipe?

It's my understanding that the boy is about 10 years younger than me.  Never mind, make that 13.  Anyway.  Yeah, the pipe, also I don't think he's quite that fat yet.

Fabulous, Jim. And Briggins had all the good ideas there!

I need advice!

Historically accurate shirtless Crocodile Dundee?

Or not-frozen-to-death fully-clothed Crocodile Dundee?

Hard call. The shirt isn't quite right...got a blue one with shorter, fatter lapels? or maybe just tuck the lapels under the vest?

crosspost with Tourist, who has a point. Pneumonia for love.

I saw the shirtless version and thought to myself "WHO IS THAT HOT SHIRTLESS STUD" and then scrolled down to the shirted one and said, oh, it's davy.

I settled on a Charlie Brown.  tMO found me a yellow polo shirt yesterday and I painted the zig zag on it today.  It looks...well, kinda wonky.

She's going as the Cute Redheaded Girl in a FUCHSIA dress (caps, so as to indicate the degree and intensity of said fuchsia).

Mindy says I should dress this way every day.  I just wish I didn't have such a fucked-up huge misshapen head, I think a hat would really round this out nicely.

All you vikings with your huge misshapen heads, I dunno... Hats are excellent, and I'm sure you could find a good one, even given the constraints. Winged/horned helmet?

Also, I just looked at your photos on FB, Jim, and DAMN you were not kidding about D being a tall kid now.  Damn.

You should be CHARLES Brown and instead wear a yellow suit with the stripe.

That is a fantastic idea...for next year.

As it is, we went to a party at a friend's place last night and I won the "Worst Costume That Is Still Somehow Endearing" award!  We got a DVD copy of A Few Good Men.  Score.

I have no costume since we didn't party so I witched myself up a little bit for the kids. I don't think we have a hat anywhere though.

There was only one small group of kids trick or treating around here last night, and they walked past our house, in both directions. I guess I ought to've found some way of decorating, but I got sick at the wrong point in the week, and the big boy was with his dad, so we weren't going out ourselves. Next year E will be big enough to do it and have fun.

Is there a bug pin holding your sweater closed? If so, awesome.
