What are you five favourite Rolling Stone songs that do not appear on Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers or Exile on Main Street. Mine:

1. Beast of Burden
2. Paint It, Black
3. Plundered My Soul
4. Under My Thumb
5. I Cannae Get No Satisfaction

Many of you will be better at this than me, 'cause the only Stones album I physically own other than the "big four" is Some Girls.

1. I am Waiting
2. She's a Rainbow
3. Shattered
4. Ruby Tuesday
5. Under My Thumb

This is fucking impossible because all my favorite Rolling Stones song lurk in this particular shadow.

I know you're lying because you put two songs from Standing on the Shoulders of Giants on there.  C'mon.

I don't think I have five Rolling Stones songs that I like, period.

I have a friend who insists that "Under Cover of the Night" is the only good song the Stones ever did.

I thought the time when people could get mileage out of hating on the Stones was over like six years ago.

I'm not trying to get any mileage out of it.  I just don't really like the Stones, but what I find most obnoxious is the idea that there is some kind of Beatles/Stones rivalry - not because the Stones are inferior or whatever, but because, you know, with the exception of the period where the Stones were doing everything the Beatles just did, apples and oranges et ceteroid.

Yeah, I never really got that either. Same with the Elvis/Beatles thing.

Yeah, exactly.

I guess my favorite Stones song is on one of the albums mentioned, but I like a cover of it more than their version.

heh.  Dead Flowers, and specifically it's the Townes Van Zandt cover that I prefer to the original (that's the predictable part, I think).

That's maybe my favorite Stones track, as well, and I love that cover.

My main reason for preferring the cover over the original is actually less of a sound/instrumentation/vocals/whatever thing than it is a tempo thing.  I like the TVZ cover because it moves at the pace that I feel that song should move.

I used to think the Stones version was a cover, the TVZ the original.

I used to think the Stones version was a cover, the TVZ the original.

Ben Chasny has also covered it (under Six Organs of Admittance) and at a show a few years ago he played it, and a guy swore that TVZ wrote it, not the Stones.

Well, quite. A hideous band.
