I gotcha, Iggy, I gotcha. Depends on how you look at it though: the Hornets managed to make it to the semis a few times in Charlotte, and they never had as complete a player as Chris Paul
Also man it's pretty cool that you're a big time NY guy and yet you root for a well-run small market team. That's pretty admirable. Why doesn't San Antonio have more sports teams, I wonder?

SA's a small city, travel's a bitch, there are two other huge markets in Texas, and UT everything sucks all the sports air out of central Texas.

I started rooting for San Antonio when me and my best friend were in first grade or so... There was no human who was cooler than David Robinson right then, all looking like the ultimate human with a PERFECT flat top fade and military moustache. Patrick Ewing looked like (and was) a chump next to the Admiral. And then in second grade Dennis Rodman showed up, fought the coyote mascot, and our love for the Spurs was sealed.

David Robinson was unfuckwitable. Also Olajuwon/Robinson was one of the best rivalries of the 90s, in any sport

Yeah... I still think David Robinson was the better defensive center, but the 94 conference finals kinda smarts even now. Still, how insane is it that the two best centers of their generation were in the same division?

Or that three hall of fame centers were at their peak at the same damn time.

So Minnesota did a throwback thing tonight for their ABA team, the Muskies. Anthony Tolliver, forward:" I'm still trying to figure out what the hell a muskie is." So great.

The Bobcats and Clippers wore throwback ABA jerseys (Carolina Cougars & Los Angeles Stars) at their game last night too. I didn't watch but this photo leads me to believe that all our boys did was stand around and gawk at Blake Griffin
trivia: old grumpy Larry Brown coached the Carolina Cougars for a few years in the early 70s. I think he's coached every team that's ever played.

At the Spurs game last night, it was NY Nets (lol)/Dallas Chaparrals. So weird to see a team that has been basically B&W monochrome for ten or fifteen years with even a touch of color. It threw me off during the shootaround because I kept looking for the black and white team.
Weird that the team's biggest rival is also their original city. Any other situations where that happened?

Yeah.. I assumed they cherry-picked the jersey based on the present day love for that color, but looking at Clippers shirts of yore that was the only responsible choice.
Though if I had my way, the entire team would have to wear Darius Miles' away jersey from his rookie year.

Apparently they were originally the "Anaheim Amigos":
The whole world should feel cheated that they didn't spring for Anaheim Amigos jerseys instead. Is that supposed to be a moustache in the letter A?

That's too racist to be a true logo. You made a good joke, thermo, and I appreciate the work you put into making that fake, racist basketball logo.

Was also just reading about these guys:
Sheboygan got to the semis in 1950 but the Lakers ended up winning it all. That's a funny sentence to write.

My favorite basketball team is still probably the Albany Patroons, named after a class of landowners who were permitted under NY State law to run their estates under a feudal system. Their tenants so loathed them that they openly revolted and fought a war against them in the 1840s.
If you've ever read
Pierre: or The Ambiguities
by Melville, the oblivious, incesty title character is a patroon.

Your state's history would be much less interesting were it not for the Dutch.

The Dutch part is cool, to be sure, but a whole lot of shit's gone down in this little corner of the world.
