I'm presenting at a conference at the end of March at Brown, and I'm trying to figure travel plans. Would flying into Boston and taking the train down to Providence make any sense if it could save me a little money? Or am I just in for an incredible hassle? It looks like I'd have to take a bus from Logan into the city to catch the train. Also I'm not sure of the cost of a ticket.

Any recommendations while I'm in Providence? I guess I could also maybe do an evening in Boston, but I'm not sure.

Are you flying from Ohio to Boston? The Silver Line (Bus into the city) of the T is pretty slow. You're looking at adding a few hours on to the trip if you go that route.

Welp, my conference is this weekend. Still looking for any and all restaurant/bar/entertainment suggestions around Providence. If I were going to go into Boston, I guess it'd be Thursday or Friday evening? I have to present pretty early Saturday, and my return flight is Sunday morning.

Jim's been a troll lately? Huh.

Umm, I've been to Providence, but I don't remember what we did there. Went to a record store and tried visiting a cemetary. I think that was about it.

Thayer St, near Brown, is the college-y area, good for record stores, bars, etc. Been a long time since I've been there much, so don't have many specific recs, but that's the part of town I'd probably gravitate to if I were there.

man I love love providence, I haven't been in a long time though.

I know this isn't your thing but check lotsofnoise for all your weird/noise concert listings...

as220 is good though- a concert venue/gallery with a bar and taco restaurant attached.
as is Nice Slice Pizza (*thayer st*), where my buddy used to work (note that, being providence, you can even get vegan and gluten free pizzas...)

Thanks, guys! I'm staying right downtown but the conference is at Brown, so I imagine I'll be hanging out over there a good bit. Kinda hoping I can rent a bike.

Also Jim I'm sorry I said you been trolly lately. You just been cantankerous

Visit all the places Throwing Muses used to go and hope you absord some of the transcendental wonder that will inevitably linger there still.
