I actually feel OK. My chiro and I were both suprised. I've been getting regular chiro treatment and massage, twice a week since the accident so I think things have held pretty well in place. I just hope I don't have to have surgery down the road and I really don't want to be one of those people in that weird al video. OY, MY NECK. He's referring me to an orthopedic surgeon though :/ and he said he could recommend a good lawyer buuuut that seems so... not something I want to do.

Hey, lady!
Be careful with surgeons -- don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Can you see an orthopedist first? Surgeons are so trained to treat things with surgery that they don't always consider the possible range of options as carefully as I'd like, especially since there is a financial incentive for them to do the surgery in the first place.

my chiropractor said exactly that and said that the dr. he is referring me to isn't "cut crazy" and looks at all the methods of treatment. But if he recommends surgery you bet I'm getting a second opinion.

How does one do that?

Hey my psychiatrist didn't call in a refill for my SSRI, and he's on vacation. Is it super weird of me to call my GP and ask him to refill it, or is he going to want to see me for a whole appointment?
I could, you know, behave in specifically the way you're not supposed to and split my doses in half until the doc gets back, otherwise.
I know, I know.

What is wrong with me?
Well, I mean, other than that cripping anxiety. The anxiety is hellped quite a bit by the meds!

Does your psychiatrist not have someone filling in for him for these kinds of matters while he's on vacation? He should! I don't know whether your GP will do it. Good luck.
I did not do anything badass or cringeworthy like get hit by a bus. The orthopedist's theory is that I weakened the ligaments around the joint with about six weeks of extremely vigorous coughing (bad upper respiratory infection), and then, when I proceeded to fall out of a handstand in an exceedingly awkward fasion, a full-on sprain was accomplished. So basically, I'm just a putz.

It's not badass, but the handstand part is still really awesome.

There are a bazillion psychiatrists here who are only in one day a week and we run into this all the time. Providing you have not missed six months worth of appointments and are suddenly asking for a script there should be someone there who can fill in for your dude and authorize refills.

Yeah, first call your psychiatrist's number and see if there's someone on call for them. If not, or if it becomes a big hassle, try your GP—if you are already on the SSRI, it's not too weird at all, especially since plenty of GPs prescribe SSRIs anyway (I think the majority of SSRIs are prescribed by non-psychiatrists, but am not at all sure I didn't make that up). They are pretty low key as far as meds go.

Yep, psychiatrist has nobody in for him until the beginning of the year, says his VM. So I called the GP. He gon' call me back. I think he'll probably go for it, especially since he's the guy who prescribed me my previous SSRI and the scrip for xanax last year, contingent on the fact that I got a psychiatrist and counselling. Which I have done, so we should be copacetic? I don't know. I mean, c'mon. I ain't takin' 'em to get wasted.

o wait, i wuz wrong.
A nurse told me that she won't relay my message to the doctor, I need to come in and see him. Which is cool, 'cause due to a lot of lame shit, I may have to take a couple unpaid hours in the middle of the day to do that. Lovely.

This is all complicated by the fact that I maxed out my insurance benefits (more or less) earlier this year, so i'll have to pay for it out of pocket, and I currently have about $1400 in other medical bills from this year I can't pay.
