I took a couple semesters of German, have forgotten most of it. Now it all sounds like Hefeweisen to me.

(Georg Kreisler - Das Wort "verlassen")

I'm gonna drink a lot of wine tonight, ladies & gents!

I can FEEL IT. One glass down already and I got home from work 15 minutes ago.

Let's do this. FOR FINN.

I'd be there Davy, but it's 11am...and I'm single parenting right now.

Sierra Nevada original was on sale at my preferred beer depot. They've got great sales and i've promised myself to only buy what they've got on sale.  So tonight I got a 6er for 5.99 which is great.

Started drinking Sierra Nevada in the summers between college, when some HS friends who went to Chico State in Calif -- where Sierra's brewed -- rolled kegs of it to all our summer parties.

Sierra's since displaced Anchor Steam as the fallback beer that'll satisfy everyone at a party, at least here in N. Calif.

For my first triple post of power, I'll pick up where Yojimbo and I left off in the new movie thread.

Ming the Merciless is terrifying, sure, but Max von Sydow's most chilling role? Strange Brew's evil Brewmeister Smith!

I gathered up all my various spirits and mixers in a box and took em to a party last night. Got to play pretend bartender for the evening. It was fun. Making Old Fashioneds and Manhattans and Sazeracs all night. Also took a case of homebrew, which was received with great enthusiasm.

Agreed that Sierra Nevada has become the microbrew everyone can agree on. But how did that happen? People who don't like hops will happily drink SN, even though it's hoppy as hell. Is the label that nice?

Funny you should ask. I balk at buying Sierra Nevada sometimes, on account of the ordinary label. But maybe it's ordinary because it's become ubiquitous, I can't tell.

Huh, I don't find that to be true at all, mostly because it's so hoppy and not particularly balanced. I've never been a huge fan, though I'll drink it, but I know a lot of people who wouldn't touch it.

Weather had been lovely lately, got some Bombay Sapphire, tonic water, and a few limes so I can spend some time out on the porch with some music, some knitting, some lovely weather, and gin & tonics.  Hooray!

I had to operate on about three hours of sleep yesterday, such that I went to read at NYU's library, fell asleep, and drooled on my book. Later in the day I wound up at that miserable Blarney Stone place in midtown, where one Blue Moon took me out entirely. Then I drank a Korean OB beer at a nearby restaurant and somehow got more sober. Maybe it was the food.

Tonight is some foodie-outing-thing where apparently I have several different beers shoved at me as part of the dinner. Given that I have to be up at my usual wretched Monday 5:45am, this sounds like an ill-advised undertaking, but as usual, that knowledge holds fairly little bearing on my behavior. I'm sure tomorrow will be a banner day.

Someday I'm going to have to tell Finn the story of how I spent his 5th birthday weekend drinking basically nonstop, boozily reminiscent and emotional, giving high-fives to family members and raising glasses of all sorts in his honor.
