thanks--my architecture degree is good for something!  and if Dr. Bob were around, he'd no doubt be pleased that the turret-like one is a hexagon.

Scout & Mojo say hi to you all, too--come visit anytime.

and I should say--this cat-fort building technique is easy as pie.  just cut your pieces out of old boxes, punch holes (make sure you have a good, sharp hole-punch so it will cut through the cardboard) near the corners and in the middle of longer pieces, and attach with zip ties.  super simple.  you could trim the zip ties if you want it to look nicer, or leave 'em if your cats like batting & chewing as much as mine do.

The waterfall's behind you, dummy.
eta: Snake damage, 48 hours post-bite. Thought it best to leave that photo behind a link, since it doesn't fit with the thread's mood.

AW! My favorite is the 15 year old war vet cat. My cat would love living on a boat.

Ferrets love hammocks more than anything. I have a freestanding one made for cats from some crap catalog (Lillian Vernon or whatever) that mine sleeps in. Linus likes to knead the blanket on it, and he always does it when she's trying to sleep - she's sticking her head out of her blanket like "WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME" and he's totally oblivious to her.

I like sailor cats!

I don't feel like unearthing the cute thread for this, but the sailor cat reminded me that just in case anyone here didn't see the dolphin/cat video that's been taking over the internet, you really should, because it's insanely cute (and involves an actual dolphin and an actual cat):

Weird, it wasn't as of when I posted it. Checked the link, and it's correct, but apparently they changed the setting. Too bad, because it was awesome—this cat was on the edge of a boat and a dolphin came up and gently bopped it a couple of times with its nose and then when it popped up the next time the cat reached out and pawed it and then nuzzled it and that repeated a whole bunch of times and the cat gave it all sort of pats and nuzzles, and the dolphin kept coming back for them. So yes, ridiculously cute.

Crimbo is currently in the kitty hospital after having very likely ingested highly toxic lily pollen. If the blood tests do show toxicity, there's nothing they can do, and he will have to be put down.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

That's the thing I'm going to be beating myself up over. We just didn't know that lilies were poisonous to cats, and we had some flowers we'd brought home from Trader Joe's, in a vase on the kitchen table. He pulled down one of the lilies (it was snapped and facing downward) and must have rubbed his face in it, because he had this brown-orange dust all over his face. We washed his face, so the hope is that he didn't actually ingest any, either by inhaling it or when cleaning himself. Luckily he didn't actually eat the flower or anything, but I think the pollen is actually the most toxic part? Anyway, we looked up whether lilies were okay for cats and the internet was all OH SHIT DUDE YOU'RE FUCKED. I called the vet and they said to bring him in right away. He was asymptomatic this morning, and there's the chance that it only got on his fur and not in his bloodstream, but we won't know anything until they run all kinds of panels and urinalysis and shit. I'm a nervous wreck right now.
