In related news, I laid out a pair of pants last night for wearing purposes today, and my kitty promptly hopped up and laid down on them.  Kitty did not move from that spot until I pulled the pants out from under her this morning.

We moved our class outside into the garden today because it was nice outside and sticky inside and we were a pretty small group anyway, and at some point during the class discussion on Realism, a cat jumped from a nearby wall and ran through the yard. I, of course, had to look after her and exclaimed something in surprise because I'd never before seen any cats hanging out on the grounds of our faculty. Then I had to turn back to my students and say, "um, sorry, I'm always distracted when there's cats around...so, um, what is Realism?"

nny, those kittens are great! (the puppies are cute too, but asleep right now, so not as cute as the kittens.) I took E to the pet shop today and fell in love with a Koolie/Kelpie cross puppy, but she's way to small to come home. Larry would eat her, and I don't have the time to train her right now.

The dog on the pink couch looks like it belongs to the NY Times' Lifestyle articles. This one would be about how this dog inherited $50 million from its owner and now spends its days making art and watching the commoners mill about in the streets, some 50 stories below.

Maybe he can invest some of that inheritance into an N.H.L. or N.B.A. team

Perhaps the Phoenix Coyotes or the Minnesota Timberwolves?

Beagles are awesome. My next dog may very well be a beagle even though everyone I know will strongly advise against it.

As long as you get it enough exercise and give it lots to do, beagles are OK - but they get bored and fat easily and then you're in trouble.
