Ach. Hope he pulls through, jeb. I would never have even considered that lilies and cats could be problematic.

Goodness gracious! I'm also thinking about your kitty and hope he only rubbed his nose in it a little. Maybe it smelled/tasted bad. You're super smart to research that. I had no idea about cats and lillies! I would have just wiped off my cat's nose and let it be.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it.
Good signs so far, his urine is good which means his kidneys are still working properly. To help keep costs down, they're trying to decide strategically when to do the blood test(s). I'm supposed to call back around 4:30. Kind of a no news is good news situation, I guess? They will probably need to keep him overnight.

He's still doing well. Urinalysis was good, blood test seems good. It's still possible that symptoms could appear but that seems unlikely. They're going to keep him overnight and continue pumping him full of fluids. Supposed to call in the AM to check in and make sure nothing's changed, and if all is good, we can take him home.
Doc would ideally like to run another blood panel but says that she's confident that, barring any changes, we're in a good place and he is okay. "Never say never, though," she says. Thanks, Doc.
I can tell you one thing: there will never be another lily in our house.
Very expensive lesson to learn.

Seriously guys, thanks so much for being here for me today. I probably would have gone totally insane w/o the support of y'all and my facebook buddies. Obvs not totally out of the woods yet, but I'm allowing myself to be fairly (cautiously) optimistic at this point.

Oh man, what a scary couple days in the animals thread! I'm sorry to hear about your hamster, Cats, and Jeb, I hope the news on Crimbo is good. Why do they not tell people about that? "oh hey here's this beautiful flower which oh btw can kill your smallest family members!" I would be just FURIOUS with the store for not making that general public knowledge.

Well there are lots and lots of things around the house that are toxic to cats.. Tomatoes, onions, garlic, chocolate, grapes.. Most of us have that stuff at some point. I didn't know about lilies offhand. There are lists all over the Internet.
The hamster that died was Libby. We still have Sun. Sun is a hamster with purpose (get up at 7pm sharp! Stuff food in cheeks! Run forever!), but Libby was never very active. It's possible her sedentary lifestyle caught up to her. She was only middle aged as far as hamsters go. She didn't feel like she had any tumors, but she did look like she was having a hard time walking last night. RIP tufty fat ham.

Poor Libby. I like the sound of Sun, he has a schedule that I aspire to. I guess because we've heard about your ace cats and ferret, I didn't know you had hamsters too. You got pics?

Sorry to hear about your hamster mc. I hope Linus is going OK.
Jeb I'm glad Crimbo is OK. I missed all that, but it's scary as all shit. Larry ate most of a bag of York pieces at christmas time, but I didn't find out about it until hours later. I was really worried (he was fine, a bit thirsty). You can't beat yourself up over it too hard, but good now that you know to keep flowers away from the moggies.

Yeah, there are pictures-
Libby in her bowl
Berry!
Sun loading up her cheeks
We also have a lot of fish - an 18" long ghost knife fish in a 75 gallon tank and a 55 gallon with loaches, catfish, guppies, and tetras. It was four guppies and now it is like, 120.

That berry pic is adorable.
Crimbo is home now, and seems perfectly fine, maybe a little cuddlier than usual, which I can deal with. We're supposed to keep an eye on him because there's still a chance of problems, but most likely he is a-okay.

Don't name him Hopalong and then neglect him to the point that the shavings disintegrate and then his foot gets stuck in the grating and you don't notice anything weird until one day the walls are smeared with blood and he's only got three feet, OK?
Because I might possibly maybe have heard third-hand that it's a bummer for all involved.

oh my word, dumbfish! I have a story of neglect involving a mouse named homer, but I don't want to talk about it.
