speaking of old ladies
Bill's 92-year-old grandmother's first great grandchild is a few months old. By all accounts I've heard and pictures I've seen, she's a pretty cute baby with big cheeks.
but his grandma said "I didn't care for it. It looked sickly"
WHO DOES THAT

She should have said the baby was breathtaking.
I am pretty sure that the only "limited edition" think about my limited edition Pringles is that it's one of very few boxes with the words "limited edition" on it.

I have a thing of rosewater that I bought from our local Badly Organized Foreign Foods Grocery months ago, and I haven't figured out what to do with it yet.
EDIT: except for make people smell like grandmas
DOUBLE EDIT: cow tipping: definitely not a myth!

We had some rose dipping sauce at a Turkish restaurant years ago and someone said, "This tastes like an antique store!" and Bill said "I can't disagree with you there BUT I ALSO CAN'T STOP EATING IT."

There is a Middle Eastern restaurant near my old apartment that I frequented because they had $2.50 falafel sandwiches and rosewater lemonade, and basically the above was my reaction every time I ordered rosewater lemonade. IT TASTED SO WEIRD, but I ordered it every god damn time I went there.

I've got a fuck-ton of dried rose petals in my fridge right now (though I didn't come near them yesterday, so they wouldn't have been the cause of the handsmell). I bought 'em for making rose liqueur, but I've been sort of idly thinking about trying to brew a rose beer. Maybe a hefeweizen.

I say this with all love, but that sounds atrocious. And I am a lover of wheat beers.

So you're saying a rose stout, then. Interesting choice.

This is always what happens with us and badam halwa.. The first bite tastes like an inflatable pool float. But you can't stop eating it, and you order it every time.

I like rose water, but I think orange flower water is more useful. I like to sprinkle it with a little powdered sugar on sliced oranges to serve after tagine. I also love lokum, including rose water, though, so ymmv. happy memories of the Dades Valley.

I only know orange flower water from Moroccan mint tea, where it is quite wonderful indeed. I also used to have a cosmetics product made either exclusively or at least mostly from rose water, which did a good job of calming down my skin when sun allergy struck. I know my mother has also been known to use rose water in dessert creams, but I never tried cooking with it myself.

Rose flavoured stuff is awesome. Hot chocolate in particular, but anything really. Jim, how can you have Turkish delight that isn't rose flavoured? That would just be weird thick jelly (Jello) with nuts in it.
I'm all about the flower flavours right now. Lavender and violet too. I just bought some lavender and chamomile tea to give to my sister, but I'm considering keeping it, and you've heard about my violet liqueur dabblings...
Greg, do you wear cologne/aftershave? Have you shaken hands with someone who does? The 'old lady' smell I think of is kind of stale perfume, or that thing that happens when you wear a perfume that reacts badly with your body and smells yucky, but only on you...(not "you", specifically, you understand.)

No on both counts! That was the puzzling thing; I'd not come in contact with anyone. But at any rate, it's gone now. We'll see if it returns tonight, at the SAME TIME.

The guy who smells like an old lady for no reason at 11:40 PM is some kind of Philip K Dick story or something.
eta: duh it's cafeteria ghosts! why did it take so long to figure that out?

I do like rosewater in faloodeh (I've never had falooda), but there are other things made with it, like noghl*, that I just find gross.
* weird candies that look like cloud turds.
