Police also arrested five women, aged 55 to 80, after they dumped bags of trash in a Bank of America downtown. They said Bank of America is in violation of the Vacant Property Ordinance, which makes lenders and servicers responsible for the upkeep and safety of abandoned properties they have a legal interest in. The trash, which included a sofa labeled “Property of Bank of America” was from a foreclosed home at 3328 W. Monroe St.

fuck that "only the protest in NYC counts" bullshit, I love what these ladies did

Almanzo and I were considering an "Occupy Wing Street" protest in the South Loop later...

But only because they have a Coke Freestyle machine. Their wings are terrible.

That's freaking brilliant. I hope there's copycats.

Here's an action I'm not too thrilled about: Obama's "newly-invigorated war" against California cannabis. The timing's probably coincidence, but it doesn't sit well. *Everyone* knows weed is a gateway drug to civil disobedience in the streets.

Federal policy on medical marijuana is a wreck.  I feel like there must be too many cooks in the kitchen.

Dudes, the feds are only going after a handful of dispensaries that grossly, grossly violate their non-profit mandate under CA law.  I'm a hippie, and so I am cool without corporate weed

It does sort of bother me that the local authorities in CA regularly bust farms working legally, but hey.

It is my understanding that the efforts are much broader than that.

3000 odd people were at the Occupy Auckland meeting today. I have to say I'm somewhat surprised and impressed.

To be fair, you don't want the rugby.

I wish our one was that big. It was still great though. It's pissing down outside atm, I feel bad for them. I'm probably going down to camp tomorrow. I came home to write an article about it. love that I can do my job from there/being there is kinda part of my job. Cool

We started off with the "We are the 99%" chant, and Mother kept only putting emphasis on the first word so it sounded like WHEEE are the 99%. It made me crack up too much.

We both did speechy things at the front, and I suggested we form a core group to coordinate food, medical supplies etc. It's probably the best rally I've been on, and I've been to a few. Most rallies we go and shout for a bit and then just go home, but this one's cooler.

One of the interview questions TV One asked was "aren't you just jealous?" Great fuckin journalism right thur, I wonder that they dare let it show its face on their channel.

This one has reached 20+ pages, and I suspect we'll have lots of reasons to post in it soon, so I made a new news thread: http://www.lastplanetojakarta.com/forums/index.php/topic,13254.0.html
