i misunderstood...i thought the 4 groupings were simultaneous...but those are the conflicts.
i will bold my picks
Spiritualized -
Wolves In The Throne Room
The Cure
- Dirty Three
The Olivia Tremor Control
- Beach House - Demdike Stare
Godflesh
- The Weeknd - Yo La Tengo
i have seen all of these bands except Godflesh, OTC, The Weeknd and Demdike Stare, so that factored into my choices.

I am about to go see a band called VHS or Beta.
Mistake? Astro-Mistake?

Just for the record, there is practically no way any of those bands are as good live as the Dirty Three.
So Cure-Dirty Three gets my vote.

I wish I could see The Cure
and
Dirty Three, but it's like narlus pointed out, I mean it's one band per line only. I'm being a bit vague.
I'm going for narlus' picks. I haven't decided on Spiritualized/Wolves in the Throne Room yet. I think the latter don't play that long on a festival. New Spiritualized album doesn't really grab me either.

I saw Spiritualized two nights ago...it was a good show, but not spell-binding. there's a stream of the entire DC show on NPR if you want to check that out.
where did you hear the rumor that WIITR might done soon?

I was actually livestreaming that show! Looked like fun. The WITTR quitting rumors are spreading for a year now, it's leading it's own life. Though Terrorizer also mentioned it in an issue. I didn't read it but the cover did read "Wolves in the Throne Room call it quits".
Edit: Here's the Terrorizer issue
http://terrorizermagazine.bigcartel.com/product/terrorizer-214-opeth-mastodon-wolves-in-the-throne-room-sick-sounds-8-with-evile
and another interview says they're
not
quitting:

I caught the 2nd to last show of the "There Will Be Blood" tour sponsored by Decibel Magazine, and overall it was pretty fun. In Solitude was pretty average metal with an eye towards NWOBHM, i could leave more than i could take. The Devil's Blood has a good sound; think bands like Jex Thoth or Blood Ceremony...slightly doomy but more rock-ish, w/ a female singer. i got blasted by some flecks of 'blood' at one point from the bass player's hair.
Watain made the whole stage area stink w/ their collection of animal heads and bones...i didn't see any rotting flesh, but the stench was most noticeable and i gagged a few times...luckily they didn't toss out liters of foul, rancid blood when they took the stage. they are definitely cartoonish (think GWAR with no sense of humor), but play capable black metal. fun to photograph too, even under challenging conditions.
Behemoth were super tight and professional. No nonsense, plenty of power. good stage set up too; uncluttered and dramatic lighting. it wouldn't make me an instant fan, but i could see how they got so popular.

Just got back from The Magnetic Fields in Amsterdam. Thought it was pretty good, plenty of songs from 69 as well. Even No One Will Ever Love You! Cellphone picture:

I saw Dustin Wong the other night. The guy played nearly an hour non-stop (without ever stopping for a second, that is) to an audience of about twelve people, and then did two encores and left with a huge smile on his face. So he's a very good guy in my book.
A few nights later I saw
Bombino
, which I thought was a different guy/band from the Group Bombino I'd heard a while ago, but turns out it isn't. They're very charismatic and it was a great show, but one of those where having to sit detracted from the whole experience.

That's a great camera. What are you using on the Wild Flag show specifically?

they are all taken using the Canon 5D2 or until recently, the 5D3. it's the DSLR i use for stills, but is quite a capable HD vid camera as well.
i don't bother w/ external/stereo mic for audio capture, and i don't do anything in post-processing either, so there is definitely room for improvement.
i usually use my 16-35 for videos, as it's really wide and i get a bit more depth of field...the focusing is manual when you are shooting video on this camera.

I saw Gareth Dickson in someone's living room last night. There was a really strange vibe when I arrived at the scheduled time and the few people there seemed either quite unpleasant, stupid or completely lethargic/possibly stoned, plus nobody seemed to know anybody, and almost nobody had heard about Gareth Dickson. A couple of guys had come with their guitars because they thought it'd be a good idea to play their own music (which they did and it was horrible). I was sitting there with those people and one of them asked another if he "knew Gareth" and the other (who appeared stoned) thought the question was about cigarettes, and a very slow, long, nonsensical conversation ensued, followed by the
worst possible
conversation about communism. I ended up retreating to the kitchen and briefly chatting with Mr Dickson himself, who seemed, in addition to being apparently the only sane person in the place (except for the organizers, who were busy) really nice (and obviously has an excellent Scottish accent), before someone barged in to ask him "as a fellow artist" "how he deals with writer's block".
Anyway, as I was beginning to lose hope in humanity entirely, a friend rescued me and the show started shortly thereafter - just him, a guitar and a small amp. What followed sounded overall quite similar to the record
Quite A Way Away
(the majority of which was played), which is to say very gently and softly hypnotic. Most of what he played, including stuff that's not on the new record, involved singing - I was under the impression that he didn't sing on older material but apparently that's wrong! Excellent set, at any rate - his salesmanship does not quite equal his musicianship though, as when I came to ask him if he had any CDs for sale with him his initial reply was "Oh yeah, but you don't have to buy it, you can just download it, you know" - but I did get back home with a copy of the new record in hand.

oh man, these type of guys go first against the wall when the revolution comes, even before the libertarians. unsolicited breaking-out-the-guitar is the WORST.
