Does anyone know anything about this guy? There's not a whole lot out there written on him, but it would appear he had a pretty amazing/tragic life.

Also, full disclosure: I heard "Sorry You're Sick" on an episode of This American Life last week. I'd never heard of him before that.

That first song is so good.
Was the episode about him or did they just use it as bumper music? I'm a little backed up on TAL podcasts at the moment

Nah, it was just interstitial. Bumpered a story about a recovery house where the residents were allowed to keep drinking.

Way too awesome. Good god.
Also: "TWA"? Hysterical yet poignant.

Haha, yeah! That shit's nuts. If it were anyone else I'd consider it sarcastic or ironic, but I get the impression old Ted just earnestly loved TWA.

Been a while since there was such an enthusiastic consensus around here. I'll definitely check it out when I get home from work.

O man, love this guy! First time I've heard of him, but the voice is familiar - I've got this weird feeling I may have passed him busking at Venice Beach at some point. My mother grew up in Venice about a mile from the beach, and we'd go down there a few weeks every summer till the mid-90s.

I like it! His voice is very familiar and warm. I'm not blown away by it- it's too comforting- but it definitely sinks in and is just impossible not to like.

yeah i mean i ain't gonna run out and get it, but it's good in that overly-familiar-contains-surprises way, much like sex with an old flame at a high school reunion. you know
