The Horrible Crowes -
Elsie
Side project from Brian Fallon, the guy from The Gaslight Anthem. It's got a similar vibe to The Gaslight Anthem, but a little mellower, maybe. There are several fine songs on.
Dr. John -
Locked Down
davy, have you heard this? I'm pretty impressed.

Listened to a bit of it for the first time on Sunday, and yeah, the collaboration works better than I thought! Definitely looking forward to spending some quality time with it.

I feel like the covers on each picture are loosely thematically related. Intentional?

Seriously though, that's gotta be well over $1000 of vinyl.

Most of that looks like you could find it in a dollar bin (the Mayhem, Immortal, Venom, some others, maybe not).

No dollar bin I've ever seen.
Anything vinyl by any of those bands you just mentioned would be at least $15 here, used or not.
You
might
stand a chance of scoring some of those Dio/Manowar/Hawkwind/Priest records for under $10.

yeah, davy's definitely right on this. if I saw Jandek in a dollar bin my head might explode.
though I did come across the 2-disc Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain reissue on CD in a dollar bin the other week, and bought it on account of simply being unable to pass it by even though I'm not a Pavement diehard and have yet to play all the b-sides and random extras. the first disc was very minorly scuffed but plays fine, so I have no idea why it was so cheap.

These are purchases from the past two months. Some even older. I've gotten pretty serious about collecting heavy metal records.
I hope you all noticed the best piece of art there...

Hey Slime, I just discovered a shop you'd dig in Medford, Oregon:
Musichead - Music to your Eyes
Best metal selection I've seen in a long time, mostly CDs though.
My haul:
Danzig 1 + 2 (Lucifuge) Custom DVD Uncut
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Killer Mike - Monster
Outkast - Stankonia
There's more but I'm about to run out of library internetz time. To be continued....

I just sent Mr.Machinefabriek some more clams, in return for these (all digital, though the third comes with a set of postcards):
Celer & Machinefabriek - Numa/Penarie
This is the second 7-inch from Celer & Machinefabriek. The first (Maastunnel/Mt.Mitaake) was ridiculously good:
1.Numa 05:20
2.Penarie 04:40
Steve Roden & Machinefabriek - Lichtung
A collaboration with Roden, and also German visual artist,
Sabine Bürger
:
1.leaves 04:55
2.ice strings 03:38
3.birds plucks stones 03:58
4.wind 03:06
5.ice bow 07:11
6.snow bellsnow 07:39
7.floor radio 03:10
8.some things within 03:32
9.vayhinger 08:14
Celer & Machinefabriek - Greetings From Celer & Machinefabriek
This one is a collection of the live recordings from their recent little tour of the Netherlands and Belgium. 5 euros for 3 hours of music!:
1.
Den Haag 26:26
2.Brussels 26:26
3.Maastricht 21:29
4.Deventer 26:45
5.Utrecht 27:32
6.Leiden 30:30
7.Drachten 16:13
All avaialable through Machinefabriek's
bandcamp page
.
A couple of other things that are imminent are the
Stroomtoon
album on
Nuun Records
(experiments with loops made on an analogue tone generator), and a simple static drone piece called
Elastiek
.
edit: Having realised that I had inadvertently swindled Rutger out of the correct postage for those postcards, I also just bought this one, partly out of guilt:
One Man Nation & Machinefabriek

Yeah, about half of it me too - the Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Van Morrison are part of my Upgrading from CD project. I wasn't listening to any funk or hip hop back then, though.
