I (probably) could've stayed the night with my friend who is probably more than friend, but no, I go home so I can go hang out with my neighbour a bit at his party and rant about the gig I played that night which went awesomely. I get to the party and look around for Ivan, find him in his flatmate's room with some other people, and right after I open the door the flatmate shuts it in my face. I go "what the fuck..." to myself and go home, and their shitty music keeps me awake off and on until 4.30am or so. On a Sunday night. So I'm 2 hours late for work due to oversleeping and feel like shit today due to exhaustion/boredom of work. Argh. Jerky jerks.

Owners (scumbag moneyed Yankee retirees who spend most their time in an upscale gated city called St. James) of the house I rent just told the agency I rent from that they want me out in 30 days. They are opting not to renew my lease, and when my rental agent pressed them said they're exploring other options and when really pressed, they made some barely-veiled weird judgments about my character, including something about me being too young (wtf), making too much noise and having too many cars. The rental company was deeply apologetic and taken aback, stunned, etc. So anyway my ass is getting a 30-day notice unexpectedly, which means the chaos of having to move on short notice coupled with the continuing disintegration of the company I work for is gonna make October one fucking awesome month.

Thanks for the votes of sympathy guys. The rental company is lining up some properties for me to check out tomorrow afternoon, which is about as much as they can do. The silver lining to all this is I'd already been preparing for a life upheaval 'cause I don't think the company I work for will survive past the end of this year. This latest bit of bad news is just the kick in the ass I need to kick my job hunting into overdrive (I've been half-assing it). Also I have a bit of money saved up and am sorta considering moving somewhere crazy just for the hell of it, then figuring out the employment part later.

Haha I would happily couch crash in any of those locales, believe me! In the past couple days I've been applying to jobs in places as disparate as Jersey City and Bakersfield CA and lots of places in between, so who knows. The job I'm probably most qualified for is in Temple, TX and I have no fucking clue where that is. But I have 5 years of experience in my field, a dozen semi-obscure certifications, a very clear idea of the direction in which I'd like to move career-wise, and a pretty nice resume, so I'll just have to be content with rolling the dice.

Temple (and the rest of the Temple-Killeen-Fort Hood-Waco quadrangle) is fairly Anglo compared to the rest of Texas, so if you dig Tex-Mex you'll be dandy.

This was my experience here in NYC.  I basically had to respond to every single ad in my price range (and post a "looking for an apartment" ad) before I got any response whatsoever.

Found the perfect apartment.  Good location.  Cheap.  Old, but pleasant and roomy.  Roommates are awesome people, we hit it off immediately.  They're basically asking me to move in right then and there.

Then I find out that there is a kitty which was not mentioned in the ad.

Ugh, that sucks man. On the spectrum of cat allergy intensity, I'm on the "they pretty much kill me" end and it's weird how much that one little thing has affected my life over the years (mostly in terms of missed or stunted social opportunities)
