It's the Japanese way of consuming cheap blended scotch.

What's not to trust?

I actually had a Bulleit root beer float a couple weeks ago that knocked me on my ass. Most delicious.

Michelada: Juice of a whole lime, hefty dash Angostura, quite a lot of Sriracha sauce, dash soy sauce, and a bottle of Brooklyn Lager.  Glass rimmed with salt and shichimi togarashi.

I KNOW THAT SHIT FROM EIGHT DAYS AGO IT IS DELICIOUS YESSSS

Way different recipe, but you are my dogg now, Antero. This is the first time I remember getting down with your ideas in this thread.

Tried to get my brother in his capacity as a bartender, to make me them but he refused out of it being too much work for something I wasn't really gonna pay for. He was also mad that I did not drink Dos Equis exclusively on a vacation.

shichimi togarashi.

I've never had that, but was thinking about picking some up after I saw it used in this jawsome-looking recipe that includes a tempura poached egg.

A michelada is delicious regardless of recipe, really.  Salt, sour, spice, beer.

I been dropping mad drink wisdom, though

my apartment is too warm to drink anything served up.  Sad  All on ice for a while.

That looks tasty as fuck.

shichimi is great stuff.  Quite spicy, no salt, umami all up in your face.

I had the worst beer I've ever tasted in Put-in-Bay on Friday. It was a watermelon wheat. I saw "wheat" on the tap handle, shouted and pointed, and then nearly retched when I smelled it. I managed two sips, set it down and left the bar. I tasted that rancid, flowery, artificial watermelon-flavoring agent every time I belched for the next 24 hours, swear to christ.

Also, I made a GIF at the bar tonight!

This GIF Shop app seems like it might could be the bomb diggity.

Huh! I would probably try this, but maybe not with Brooklyn Lager. There's this Great Divide lager called Hoss I've been drinking a lot recently; I wonder if the rye in it would be complementary.

Was it this one?

It's insanely popular down here right now, but I was pretty disappointed with it. Worst beer I've ever tasted? Nah, but it was bad enough.

No, this was nowhere near as good as any of the bullshit canned stuff 21st Amendment makes. It was some probably extract-based "pub brew" that someone had dosed with flavoring approximately like that of watermelon bubblegum.

I recall Hoss being pretty sweet/malty, so I don't think it would.  Brooklyn Lager is actually heavier than I'd prefer, but it was what I had on hand.

I have been working at a really nice cafe for several hours now and am running out of steam. My lady--who adds much pleasure to my life but might not, strictly speaking, always amount to what consensus values would term a good influence--keeps suggesting I go to this bar next door that she loves, probably so she can live vicariously through me.

I do not envision this contributing to a fruitful late-afternoon, but as I sit here working through various documents, I do keep thinking how nice a dark and stormy would be right about now.

yeah, this was a good call. laptop on counter, notepad whipped out, drink half gone already. I look like a total dork here among the hepcats who populate Philly's Northern Liberties, but fuck it, I'm drinking and writing and that's that.

I won 4 4-packs of Sixpoint Beer thanks to being able to correctly identify a pepper plant: http://lunchatsixpoint.com/2011/07/15/name-that-plant-week-5-2/

Best winning of stuff ever, at least for me.

I have had a number of glasses of wine tonight.

My inhibitions feel vague & unimportant.

The wedding I was at featured home-brewed beer and mead. I expected to hate the mead. I did not.

don't sneak red wine into a movie theater. it smells and sometimes gets in your purse.

My theater permits any outside food as long as it doesn't smell so much that it bugs other people. Also no glass bottles.

Make dinner for friends, tell them to bring booze, and then kick them out before the trains stop running. You made them a nice meal, you are getting you drunk, everybody's satisfied.
