idea: small googly eyes on some of the warm fuzzies in select locations throughout your scarf and hat.

Yeah!!! Awesome plan!

I think I have some stashed away somewhere, or if not, I have kids, so they won't last long if I have to buy more ;-)

I dig your hat and scarf, and also your cynical self portrait, clare.
I normally have nothing to contribute to this thread, but I was at my friend's house last week, and she was crocheting an afghan, and I thought it looked fun, so she showed me how to do it. I am very bad at it! But I want to learn properly and get good. It will be somethng that makes me feel good about procrastinating, because I'll have produced something at the end of it, ather than watching old Soul Train clips on youtube, which only produces a feeling of regret that I cannot dance.

Thanks guys! dyeing things is fun times.

Davy, I could probably do that. I'd just have to throw it in with my next order of blanks.

TWO THINGS
1. Pick two colors. I have pretty much everything.
2. What kind of pattern do you want? I can put them just in the corners, or like, all over.. The stars are an inch and a half across, but I think I can get smaller or larger ones.

Could you do navy/white (or natural)? Maybe a little burgundy thrown in if you need another color? As far as pattern, I like the way it looks in that photo!

Yeah, I can do that. The stars will be white and the rest will be navy.
I can try it backwards so the stars are navy, but I don't know what navy will lighten to.. If you look in the picture, the one with black stars, the whole thing was black and then I took out color - the black turned into that weird olive-brown.

MC, have you done a lot of hand-edged pocket squares? I know some dudes on tha innernet that make a handsome side wage doing custom pocket squares for discerning gents.

CF, I haven't done any squares - all the stuff I've been selling is 8x54" silk or 15x60" cotton.

I have a bunch of 6x72" rayon scarves that evidently no one likes, so I am drawing and painting stupid things on them today.

I started just painting stripes on one. Then I remembered I bought squeeze bottles to make drawing faster.

(this one is 15x54" cotton)

There's a couple more Linus ones, but as you can see the light in the basement is abysmal, so the photos are bad. I have at least five or ten more undyed ones, so I will probably just draw cats on the ends and then make patterns in the middle. These will probably look a lot paler once they've been rinsed out.

Yay hams! I also like the pattern on the grey one, and the linus and the aligator and the squid and and and...

I like the drippy stripes -- also I have not forgotten about the dye request, I am just now realizing that I don't have to do the whole two yards the same, so I'm trying to plan out the yardage.

Any suggestions on trim for this? It just looks kind of like a sea of beige, at the moment:

Maybe some thin red velvet ribbon? Or deep rose grosgrain? Around hem, two stripes? Or one around bodice?

Oooh, that's nice. It reminds me of a Carla Zampatti dress that I was ogling just this morning with all that beige linenyness...red velvet sounds like a nice thing.

I like the sound of red velvet ribbon. I think the two around the hem appeals to me more, but will it work with the pleat?

also I am happy to report that all those scarves survived rinsing, and the colors stayed quite bright. I was working on the five remaining white ones last night, but using the squeeze bottles for three hours straight makes my hands/arms hurt, so I had to stop.

As you mentioned before, those kind of pain issues are the bane of crafts. I'm working on a little cape for a friend's daughter and the collar + edging are a tight woven stitch that just murders. I can do maybe 3 rows a night without paying for it the next day.

I also like double velvet stripe at the bottom best but you're right, it's tricky with the pleat. Hoom.
