I just bought yarn and knitting needles. A few years ago I tried to learn to knit, but while I was doing it I was reallly sick and snotting all over the place and not into the yarn I bought or into the idea of making a scarf or whatever I was making.
This time I bought pretty purple yarn. I'm going to make a cat hat for my friend for christmas. If I can't do that I'm going to try to make socks.
if I can't do that I'm going to make pillows. for myself.

knit me a yam sweater, I will deep fry that motherfucker, then I can either be warm (and greasy) or just eat it. It's like a choose your own adventure gift

JIm, your posts are all making me laugh this morning. Thank you!
On a more topic-y note...
Should I buy an overlocker (serger) from Costco? It's a Janome, and according to the googling I did, about $200 below rrp, small enough to fit in my tiny space for sewing, but looks pretty robust and gets some good reviews.

YES! Get two, I want one as well. But seriously, can you look at the manual before you buy it? That sounds like a good deal, and Janome is a great brand.

I know the model# (8002dx), but there might be a manual kicking around near the floor model. Good point. I'll have a look next time I'm there....

Stuff folks usually recommend looking for: color-coded threading path, differential feed, and one other thing I can't remember. 5 threads?

Diff feed, and colour coded threading path? check. The other thing...3 or 4 thread, easy rolled-hem thingy, adjustable cutting width, thread cutter, pressure foot pressure adjustment?

This is some stuff that I have made.
These are wall hanging roller derby heads, with rockabilly dealios on them. I'm hoping to find a varnish or something I can put on them to make them look better. The pink one is going to have cherries on it.
Jammer heads.
Kitties!

I've done this with two pairs of shoes already, and it's pretty awesome.

Latest batch of stuff for HT: a little cotton/linen hoodie thing, the raincoat finally getting some use, Nurse Nancy costume by request, finally finished the lethal silk dress that almost destroyed my spirit, and her other super easy and pleasurable to sew silk dress that I feel certain I must have posted already, but for some reason I don't see it.

Bernard, are you saving money with all this kit, or just getting a wicked stylish baby?
