are white girls the ultimate yellowbones?
Oh god I do not even know how to start responding to that

I ... don't even know what that means.
A very light-skinned black woman, possibly of mixed parentage

Archaic: "high yellow"

Old references: "Yellow Gal", "Yellow Rose of Texas"

oh wild.  I've heard and understood the things you said, just somehow "yellowbones" specifically has escaped my attention all this time.

Well, there certainly has been plenty of discussion over the years about black-on-black racism that favors lighter-skinned black people over those who have darker skin. I guess the ultimate extension of that sort of judgment would be to prize whiteness most highly. But that's assuming you guys think of "yellowbones" as some sort of complimentary term, which for all I know, it might not be. But then, there's also been plenty of discussion over the years about how much black men love white women--and not all of it by racist white people either.

God, I feel like I'm typing with nitroglycerin to even be discussing this. I'm going to explode the whole board. NOT MY INTENTION, GUYS, I SWEAR!

Daaaaaamn, son.

Q: Who was the first person with an iced-out-_______ chain?  Obviously the jewelry thing goes back to Slick Rick, but this particular manifestation is pretty mysterious.

I've grown to sort of love that song, which is the opposite reaction I should have from hearing it roughly six times a day on my car radio.

"Novacane" is just a well-written goddamn song.  Got that Tricky Stewart beat, too.  It's like a The-Dream track except reflective rather than libidinal.

"Guillotine" would be awesome on the radio 'cause then I could sit in the car and reenact the video.

YAH

I agree that "Novacane" is a pretty well-written song. Chill beat, and these days it's only the rare radio R&B track that can build or maintain a coherent lyrical theme for an entire 3.5 minutes.

Unrelated, for some reason listening to a new Tony Yayo track that came across a blog: "The moon is my harsh mistress/purple statue of me and bitches"...is he seriously making a Heinlein reference, or am I missing something?
