For me the electronics thing is more about buying used electronics than it being craigslist. I'd buy something refurbished with a warranty before I bought a tv off of craigslist.
Yeah, I've only had good luck buying off craigslist, but that's records, bicycles, bookshelves - stuff that you can look at and make a pretty accurate guess as to what shape it's really in. I'd avoid used electronics, especially stuff like LCD TVs. I mean: I actually did get my TV on craigslist ... but it's a CRT TV, and people really are selling perfectly good CRT TVs to get them flatter things.

I've bought, sold and traded a crazy amount of stuff on craigslist, including furniture, electronics, video games, brewing supplies, books, subleases, bikes, etc., etc. I've never been screwed nor knowingly have I screwed anyone.
You're outta your mind. Wanna by my toaster? I promise I didn't cook my dick in it.

Never buy electronics on craigslist. Unless you want to buy a logitech universal remote that my kid spilled mayonnaise in.

Whatever.
At least it's funny
But seriously, at least half of all craigslist sale ads are fake or a scam. Earlier I did a brief scan of the clist Milwaukee for tvs and there was a whole lot of bullshit dude.

also registering puzzlement at the anti-craigslist talk, as I've had nothing but good buy/sell experiences on there. In fact, I sold my old CRT TV on there.

The main point of this TV is definitely watching streaming media. We don't even own a blu ray player or whatever.
Or an xbox any more. Oops.

I don't know if you're interested, but the new thing is CB streaming. You get a CB radio and stream it directly to your tv by using an FM modulator. Then you set up a mic from the CB and you go to town. MAN TALK ALLLLL NIGHT. My buddy Wild Bill drives a 2 trailer hitch outta Cedar Rapids down to Great Lakes and back and I CB stream his voice right into my head box, man. He's half Sioux, and is a practicing shaman from the Dakota sect, has a panther familiar and runs business on the side buying CRT's on Craiglist and then selling em on the Eastern Seaboard to some Croatian interests who are then installing them as art exhibits in Bulgaria.

Got yer ears on, Milly? Alright, then quit your jawjacking. I got a cold rig here headed for the double nickel highway and on all sides o' me I got local yokels wanting to make me a customer. Can't believe it. I just wanna make it past the next chicken coop and take a damn coke stop. What's your 20? Copy?

vizio's are great, though the last one I bought I ended up sending back because the sound was really awful.
I got a bitchin best buy gift card so I got this badass 46in samsung that is like paper thin, practically edgeless, and has built-in netflix etc.

I am down here heading down to big a, gotta brake check on the 90, tore down to 50 and bird dogged it while talking to my better half. Good buddy I gotta chance to get behind a meat wagon and tag it to the hospital. they act like it's turkey down down here, and I'd love it, but I am towing a wiggle wagon 10-20 to the yard. over.

Do you know what an edge is?
From the manufacturer :
Ultra-Slim Bezel Design
The LED 7000 is designed with less edge for more to see.
I don't know why I insist on responding when you're a dick to me for no reason. Dnftt I suppose.

if you can hold out id see what prices are like around black friday. its coming up pretty soon, and thats going to be your best bet for getting a solid set with built in apps and such in your price range.
if not you can get solid vizios or dynex or whatever for in your price range if you watch for sales and stuff. theyre generally not going to have the built in streaming apps and such though.

Speaking of...
I saw an ad this morning that target is having a black Friday preview this Friday. They haven't released the specific sales yet but the teaser says 50% off of a Vizio tv. Could be an apps model, could also be small.

With TVs with onboard Wifi, like the
Vizio XVTs
, can you stream directly to the device over your home network, like from a media server to the TV? Or is it more of a walled garden, Netflix & Hulu-only type situation? I've had trouble determining what these things can actually do from reading the manufacturer information.
