Damn I love alone time. I recommend long walks with Rain in England.

Walking/riding my bike. It might only apply to smaller towns, but lately I've gotten kind of obsessed with the 'middle of the night bike ride through deserted streets' thing. Like, hopping on your bike at 2 AM or whatever. Air is crisper, it's simultaneously exciting and calming and it's oddly conducive to thinking and contemplation.

I like doing this. Especially while listening to music. There's a certain kind of record that just sounds right cruising under street lamps.
I don't have any lights for my bike right now though.

and yeah, totally into this, here's the mix i made three years ago inspired by it. I was in the countryside.

Today I took a nine mile round trip into town on my bike, browsed Waterstones bookshop, bought a copy of The Gruffalo that makes sounds, and a Gruffalo soft toy for my nieces birthday, ate a chilli cheeseburger and fries, and then went to The Cornerhouse to watch The Tree Of Life.

The film was absolutely terrible, and now holds the distinction of being the first movie I have ever walked out on. Other than that, the rest of the day was really nice.

Tree of Life was amazing (opinion). It is in no way Oscar 'bait' (fact). So far among my friends, if you have liked other films by this director, you will also like this one. If you only liked Badlands, and maaaaaaaaaybe Days of Heaven, you may or may not like this one. If you don't like Malick, this won't be the film that converts you.

I won't waste my breath explaining what I thought was so great about it.

I'd actually like to hear this, if you're willing to explain it. I haven't seen it, but a number of my friends have, none of whom particularly liked it. There was a lot of damning with faint praise, and some outright dislike. I would really like to hear a perspective from someone who did like it, because I was sort of surprised by how much everyone disliked it, given how excited they all were to see it.
