Any of you jerks on this yet?

(this being Turntable.fm which is a beta of a collaborative music streaming site where you can DJ from your own library or from a fairly extensive built-in database, a little buggy but fun)

If you are facebook friends with someone who is (e.g., me) you can get in on it too. I'm bored, come play music with me.

Let's make our own room. And fuckit, I'm making it public so random people can come in and gawk at us too

I'd been hearing about this but wasn't sure what it was. Looks neat! I'll check it out tonight.

FYI we've got as many ex- and inactive LPTJers in the room right now as current LPTJers. And it's awesome Smile

Should I A) go in this room and play nothing but Lil B or B) go in this room and play "Skinny Love" over and over?  Also FYI thing will probably get shut down any second, they ain't pay for a streaming license.

Fun times! But I probably won't be back until Monday. What's the use of wasting time when you're not at work?

FYI, for those of you who were in the room today @ 5:30, I had to leave without warning when I almost got caught DJing while manning the reference desk. (I think I got out in time.)

I don't quite understand it, but I think I just joined. I'm not sure though, because I don't think I have any LPTJ friends on Facebook, and that was supposed to be a requirement for membership.

I did this today! It was kind of fun. I imagine it'd be much more so when drunk.

You caught the room at kind of a weird, directionless juncture, pollo. Next time I bet we'll have more momentum (and more people -- it got kinda crowded in there around lunchtime today!).

How does it work? Does everyone rotate selecting tracks to play, or does one dude just hog the virtual 1s and 2s while his captive audience listens and stares at their feet? These are all answers I could find out by checking it out myself but I want you guys to tell me instead because, like blucas, I don't think I could do it without trolling ("Hey guys check out this 80 minute Morton Feldman piece")

Thermo: the former.  djsmanship rotates and just goes through peoples' selected cued songs one item at a time, and these songs can be uploaded or selected from the turntable.fm liberry.

But yeah, it was pretty fun!  A good thing to do on a weekday when I'm not at work, certainly.

Also, the room can vote on whether or not it's awesome or lame. If the majority votes "lame" then the track gets skipped.

(When you click "awesome," your avatar bobs its head. It's cute.)

I'll be there in the morning. I want some theme action tomorrow. Enough of this easy free-for-all stuff.
