...was that a serious answer? My god, man.

The only one I feel dumb about is getting AE twice, because it's a pretty pointless revision, but much like with the call of duty games it comes down to either paying extra $$ or stopping playing with your existing circle of friends because they've all moved on without you.

Firing range is really good, yeah. That's probably my favourite of the Black Ops maps. Jungle looks nice but it's basically a carousel. Nuketown is a joke with more than four players, but it's good for private FFA. I can't remember Kowloon or Stadium.

Are there any good MW3 maps?

My favourite MW2 maps are (forgive not knowing the real names in some cases):

The mansion one where the two teams are constantly gaining and losing control of the house, fighting up the street and sending a sneaky partner in via the greenhouse.

The one I want to say is called "Afghan" where you have a small cave section, a crashed plane and a bunker with windows for sniping - so many mindgames going on when someone kills someone else from that bunker window and both players are guessing how the guy who died will approach to get revenge.

The submarine/harbour/grey-white one which I think is a better version of Summit, with better vertical engagement and better nooks and crannies to dance round.

Terminal, the airport one, which is just amazing from the get-go. As soon as the round starts people are dying.

The one in a city where there's a playground in one square with like a newspaper shop that's lit kind of greenish inside, and lots of half-destroyed apartments etc. I love the various walkways with a window for a shooter at one end, but the shooter has to be constantly wary of someone appearing behind him.

Kowloon and Stadium are from one of the DLC map packs, they're both great. And yeah I'm rating most of those maps through the lens of private TDM/FFA games (although Jungle is my favorite Domination map, something about it just works really well).

Good MW3 maps...let's see. Dome is good for private FFA or Gun Game. I like that Asian market map but that's because it's dark and there's a lot of moody neon (the actual layout is typical bland MW). Chet likes the London train station map a lot more than I do. The German mall one is OK because there's a Burger Town in the basement, and they've recently expanded their menu to include health-conscious options like fish tacos. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. The maps feel interchangeable with identical flows, albeit with different textures.

Airport & Rust were my favorite MW2 maps. The Afghanistan one was neat but a little too big for private games. But again, I think there's a number of Black Ops maps that, at least in a specific context (private  TDM or FFA with friends), are more memorable and interesting than any of the MW2 maps.

The good thing about MW3 maps is that even though there is still some good vertical gameplay it's not ridiculous to the point where you could be getting shot from any angle at any point (i'm looking at you Favela). There aren't really any maps that favour the sniper above all either.

I'm pretty sure blucas is passed in a pool of tipped-over high life and Skyrim-induced jizzum.

man, watching the giantbomb quick look of the metal gear solid hd collection. 30 minutes of footage of mgs2 and there was maybe five minutes of actual gameplay in that. now i remember how tedious all those codec conversations were.

oh also in other news minecraft is still the best thing ever after abandoning it for awhile. is there/can there/should there ever be an lptj server? I mean, I know it will be all phallic symbols or whatever but it could be fun.

Yeah, those games don't need an HD makeover, they need a "skip and give me a one page summary" button.

I'm against HD makeovers generally, as I think we've discussed before. Apparently the Halo one is out this week.

Apparently the Halo one is out this week.

Worth mentioning: the (8 or so?) multiplayer maps included in the Halo remake are also available for Reach today for 1200 Microsoft Dollars.

saints row 3 is pretty cool. the writing and shit you get up to is just completely off the rails insane, and its layered on top of a real solid GTA San Andreas descended open world murderfest. nothing revolutionary, but im having a blast with it. also theres a weapon that summons sewer sharks to burst up out of the ground and eat your foes, so thats neat.

I haven't played in a while, I guess the final release is coming out soon/has come out.  Exciting!  An LPTJ server would be fun.  I know Jim played, who else?

haha, yeah, sadly I've only been able to put about 3-4 hours into it so far.  It's my reward when I get enough work done.  Really all I've done is the tutorial/Helgen thing, the Bleak Cave thing milly was talking about (that was a RAD fucking side quest; I was expecting to kill two bandits and pick up the golden claw, but it was way more involved and atmospheric and awesome).

Then I meant to trudge up to Whiterun for the main quest, but accidentally went all the way to Winterhold because I got confused by the marker/map system, so while in Rome, I joined the Stormcloak rebellion, and did their first mission where you have to go through that wonky icesheet out to that island and kill an Ice Wraith.  Fuck the Empire, man!

edit:  I also like that Winterhold has "Gray Quarter" for dark elves; I went into that one Cornerclub and the bartender was like, "Oh yeah, let me tell you about my homeland, Morrowind," and I'm like, "OH, I KNOW, SIR."

I thought they've learned their lesson, but no.  The wolves in Skyrim are some cliff racer shit.  You KNOW they're coming and you still don't fucking see them.
