The Dutch make mash potatoes with an equal part kale - it's a pain-free way to get a lot of greens in your diet (though you might be less eager to have all that starch along with it). I like to lightly sauté it in butter with some garlic and diced onion, until it just starts to wilt. That's one of my stand-by side-dishes, and one you can easily add to - olives, mushrooms, cured meat, etc, all go well in there.
That sounds amazing!

i like to saute garlic until golden, throw in a bunch of rinsed and shredded kale and then a couple tbsp balsamic vinegar and a pinch of hot pepper flakes. in the case of swiss chard i saute onions, then add greens, followed by shredded bacon and lemon juice. broccoli is great with sauteed garlic and grated ginger, with sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, a sprinkle of sesame seeds and garlic chips (slice super fine and fry until golden).
if anybody is on the wall with p90x then message to arrange for me to text you before and afters of my tush. the difference in just 7 days was dramatic!
You're sending out ass pics? I want one. I never turn down an ass picture even if that ass is Canadian.

In case I didn't make it clear, the kale-and-potatoes mash ('stamppot') and kale sautéed in garlic butter are two different dishes. You could mix them if you like, of course.

Oh, on the smoothie subject: I've periodically been making smoothies out of diet orange soda, vanilla-flavored yogurt, and vanilla protein powder. It has the slightly sickly artificial taste of an Orange Julius (which, having spent many formative years in food courts, I kind of love), and is easy way to sip protein in the evening.

Since cbs is my birthday buddy, I hereby make this pledge: if she doesn't follow through with butt pics by our shared birthday, I will post butt pics in her place.

bebeh I already am so assy. So, though, protien shakes sound like thing I should do. To have protien. Do they fill you up? Because I eat
a lot
of starch and carbs, and it would be nice to have something I could eat a lot of that doesn't leave me feeling like eating six pieces of toast after.
I am getting slightly more muscular! But here's the thing of it, now I got a taste and I'm hungry for muscles. I don't want to stop until I look like one of those freaks at that link milly posted.

pm me your number and i'll text them, but there's a tax: to ensure my sole purpose of encouraging fitness is being met you must agree to return the gesture with your own before and afters.

I took a 1/2-hour private swimming lesson tonight! Basically my form is good but I have never been able to coordinate my breathing with my stroke and I always end up swallowing lots of water—gross and unpleasant. So the very nice instructor helped me deal with my breathing and now, with her pointers, I'm ready to start swimming laps on a regular basis! Huzzah!

Rad! I just found out my workplace would allow me to get a special cheaper membership at the Y with a pool in it, and now I'm sort of thinking about a membership there.

the y is the only indoor track within walking distance of my apartment, back in edmonton, but i heard they give $10 memberships to the recently incarcerated as part of rehabilitation and it makes me nervous. i imagine sex starved creeps looking me up and down and licking their lips, potential cannibals.
would rather practice snowboarding through trees, in the winter sun. it's been snowing here for 5 days while aspen is dry. you can get a deal on a spring pass for only $89 (for the whole spring season!) - bombing these huge runs here in whistler. i'd be up today but for low visibility and high winds, rumours were the alpine lift was closed.

I've been doing really well at the gym, going three times a week (though this week I skipped a night), spending 35-45 minutes doing cardio and then another 30 or 40 minutes of weight stuff. I feel pretty fuckin' great!

In my health and fitness news, I am officially no longer technically overweight (although I did jack shit to "earn" it so I'm not, like, proud of it, just happy), but I would still like to lose about 20-25 more pounds. I am slightly tempted to indulge in vanity/one-up Greg Nog by posting pics of my compulsive-yoga-plus-naturally-muscular-build biceps, but I will refrain (I will also refrain from posting pics of my compulsive yoga backside, although CBS did get the ball rolling on that one).
