I'm not sure this is true (it's certainly not well-sourced, leading back to an anonymous IMDB biography), but says
the Wikipedia
of Whitesnake's big hit:
Quote
The song was written by lead singer, David Coverdale, and former Whitesnake guitarist, Bernie Marsden. The most notable differences between the original and revamped version are the style of the music (blues-rock versus hard rock) and a slight change in the lyrics. The chorus of the original version features the lines:
"An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone"
In an interview, Coverdale claimed he changed the lyric because he was afraid people would think he was saying "homo" instead of "hobo".[2]
though apparently it's reverted back because a friend was stymied in singing along with it on the radio...?

drifter is a way better word for that part anyway. that hard D makes it more fun to sing.

ok so I'm listening to that Belle and Sebastian album from a year or two ago and honestly all I can say is it's not bad? I guess?
like as a whole. some of it is straight up bad.

Nah, that last one wasn't very good. I enjoyed The Life Pursuit, though.

Last one of theirs I really listened to was
Dear Catastrophe Waitress
. No excuse for that, though, since I liked
Dear Catastrophe Waitress
pretty well.

The Life Pursuit is one of the best summer pop records in my collection, seriously.

On this note, though, I picked
3 .. 6 .. 9 Seconds of Light
used on vinyl at lunch.

At risk of incurring someone or others wrath I have to say that Afghan Whigs cover of Frank Ocean's Lovecrimes is pretty bad.

I listened to the life pursuit a bunch when it came out but then suddenly I couldn't stand it anymore.

what is this? in this energetic world we are never truly alone but solitude is worth cherishing.

We were in the car today listening to The first XX album. My flatmate asked if I'd heard the new single which I hadn't and she then said it "kinda sounds like Dido". I listened to it and it does.

Is there a thread for selling records? Is that a thing people are into?

I would be in favour of such a thread, I have been known to buy records.

I remember somebody suggested this idea once in the Departure Lounge, and when I said I thought it'd be a good idea, somebody quoted my post and put "-1" below. I hardly ever get angry, but for some reason I remember that pissing me off.
But yeah, I'd be in favor of such a thread.

Have you all heard about Baroness? They're all in a British hospital after their tour bus went off the road. Not much news at the moment, but sounds quite serious -
