I liked the Rudd thing far more than I thought I would, but I think Parks and Rec overall has been pretty one-note this season. It's supposed to be more character driven than most of these sitcoms, but it seems like they've settled into some safe routines with everybody and rely mainly on quirks for laughs. I dunno. I think the last few episodes of 30 Rock have been much funnier.
Last episode of Sherlock pretty much rules. Andrew Scott, the guy who plays Moriarty, is the best.

While I agree with you a wee bit, there has been some really great episode of parks and rec this season. The halloween party, and smallest park ones being two examples.
Also, the last episode was golden. Ron's incredulity at Tommy's bowling technique and it's success, ending him with going to the bowling lane incognito to try it out was genius.
I do think they need to do something drastic to freshen it up though, like they did when they wrote out Paul Schneider and brought in Adam Scott. Maybe if Leslie actually wins the election, that'll be what it needs. If Ron also gets the Assistant City Manager gig, that could lead to some interesting power dynamics.
As for the immediate future, Ben meeting Dave should be interesting.

I thought they never really knew what to do with Louis CK. his character was totally forgettable.

What do you know, new kid? The only man to step up to the plate was Ignatius, who I'm still trying to decide what to do about. I made an exception for you, suggesting an arrangement, and you dropped the ball. If I release one photo it'd get around so fast that I really don't know how I feel about that after all.

Why is Paul Rudd on Park N Rec? Did Hollywood finally run out of 'Bros'-type parts? NBC called and he's all ironically wacky, "why yes, I'll take that job," and then he abruptly stops smiling and puts the gun into his desk drawer. I wonder if Jason Segall is gonna show up on Whitney.

Is there a Paul Rudd backlash I ain't aware of? I like that dude, he's a comedic Everyman. And the ladies like him so everyone wins.

I don't find him as cute as hannah does. At least I think it was hannah who thought he was cute? But that's about the most negative thing I can work myself up to say about the fella. Don't love him, but he's good at what he does.

D thinks he's sex walkin around, which is the opinion of a lot of ladies. I could take him or leave him, but he does have some good timing, etc.

My general feeling is that the dude is extremely good at an incisive impression of human short-sighted gormless false entitlement, which I love; I see the P&R role as the latest example of that, in the same line as
his part
in Wet Hot American Summer and the Tim And Eric
computer sketch
.

I personally don't have anything anything against Paul Rudd, I was just charmingly noting that he's popular and cool, and Park and Rec is on TV and it's a step down from big hollywood "Bro" comedies. There are several degrees of defensiveness that came out at even the *possibility* of a anti-Paul-Ruddism. There's Thermo's "the ladies like him so I like him" thing, there's chet's angry attempt at a putdown, there ig's potent blase attitude about him which hides extreme masturbation, there's elpollo's high falutin answer, and there's greg nog's rather sharp incisiveness. in the end though, you are all saying one thing, MOTHERFUCKER BE DREAMY. Hey I think tha' same. just thought it rather odd. you don't see seth rogan on gossip girl... so I was like...??? why dis happen?

Nah buddy, I was mostly masturbating extremely in response to thermo's question about a possible Rudd backlash. I didn't think your comment encroached upon my delicate sensibilities or nothing.

Tomorrow in class we're going to watch & discuss the Walt/Gale "I'm a libertarian" scene from "Sunset." Interested to see what they think about the show's treatment of drugs.

Seriously! Three episodes a season is pretty meager even by British standards

But they're essentially 90min films! I think three a year is pretty good.
