well, the splint doesn't come off until tuesday and i'm not allowed to do anything but lounge about so i finished the first season of sherlock on appletv today... it was only okay. worth the $20? hm... i love sherlock homes so it's sufferable but tv really is the pits. it's annoying that they took away his famous pipe and cocaine habit, make implications to his sexuality, and how the pacing feels quite off. it's also overly dramatized. the book is written well enough that i can fill in the blanks with my own vision of his face and house and mannerisms, which i prefer to the directors. i'm still going to buy the next episode but only because i've got nothing better to do, stuck laying here until tuesday. it's a shame the tube has to be such rot.

You're not giving Moriarty on the show any credit.

The biggest laugh I've gotten from Parks and Rec this season was the three seconds in last night's episode where it cut to Martin Starr at the snowglobe museum, turning over a snowglobe and telling the person at the desk in front of him "I dunno; it's working now"

OK, that's really funny and now I don't have to watch any of this season.

Martin Starr is funnier than pretty much everyone on that show except for Ansari and Offerman. They should find a regular part for him.

Canada still the only member of the British Empire left along with the Falklands. All they get is repeats of Eastenders over and over.

I remember getting into a Facebook argument with someone over which is the better comedy, Community or Parks and Rec, and dude was repping really hard for P&R being the best comedy on television by a longshot. I mean, it's good, I watch it, but at this point it's more a warm blanket or a pint of Ben and Jerry's than a good tv comedy.

Parks and Rec is a better show than Community, taking into account both shows entire runs.

Man all of the high concept stuff this season was basically embarrassing. That multiple timelines thing was a pretty good one-off but you just know if it had gotten renewed they'd do like two more of those for se. 4.

I think the only reason that the Halloween episode didn't really work was because it was aired the week after "Remedial Chaos Theory." I think had the two episodes been spaced further apart, it would have been fine and not really that big of a deal that they were structured so similarly.

I don't know man, I've really loved this season a lot. On a whole not as much as S2, but the big laughs have been even bigger, I think.

Was the AD&D episode this season or last? That was the last one I really, really liked.

That was a pretty spectacular episode. But saying that's the last one you really, really liked for a show like Community doesn't necessarily mean it's on an inevitable decline. The show is basically Premise Beach, and it succeeds or fails on an episode-by-episode basis with no real arc or development at all. My favorite is the Goodfellas/chicken fingers episode.

It has gotten bad, though. I hope it establishes a precedent that future sitcoms need not be character and/or relationship driven.

Sure, sure. I don't think it's necessarily on an inevitable decline; there's been a lot I've liked and a lot I've found pretty boring/unfunny in each season. But the last ~5 episode run, I barely remember.
