The cat just bit my leg where it's sunburned, so that seals the deal: calling in.

Here's the ride, for anyone that's interested:

my town just built an urban trail that goes by my house so I checked it out today and got lost a little bit. I joined map my ride so I could see how far I went and it was only 6.35 miles but hey! It was fun. Part of it goes over a pretty lake.

Not so much to do over here, so I decided to go exploring on my bike. Look, open space!

Beautiful! I wish I had easier access to open space like that. I love those kinds of rides.

I've wondered that myself. I'm guessing about 10-12 mph, but I'm not really sure.

I suppose the next step is to find out how fast I usually travel on a bike. I've had super bike people tell me I'm pretty fast. I stand up a lot. but a lot of times I feel kinda slow, too.

Yeah, Jeb is about right. I just typed in a random route and it gave 66.5 miles in 5 hrs/49 min, which comes to just under 11.5 mph.

Seems like that's probably about an average cycling speed. I tend to bike about 12 on average, I think.

Just outside Paris! I had to go about 25km to get to where I took the above photo, but luckily there's a bike lane along a canal leading out of the city and through the 37 levels of suburbs.
here's my "mapmyride", I just started it

I always used to speed up to go past the police speedchecks and I only ever hit like 17 mph I think

Nice! Apparently you can't see the maps if you don't have an account there, though, or is there a direct link? The photo's beautiful, but knowing where you are I imagine the open space must get pretty boring after a little while once you get past the novelty effect!

Yeah, I think the fastest I've ever gone was around 16, and I don't remember it being very sustainable. I'm easily able to average 14-15 mph on longer trips, though. Biking around town, though, I don't really hit it that hard.

just did approx 120 miles over two days through the columbia gorge in oregon/washington. the spot we were supposed to camp stopped allowing campers after july, so we ended up hiking about 5 miles down the pct and some logging roads to a random lake with a burnt out trailer and some juggalos.

i'm exhausted. and i've never eaten so many blackberries.

The secret uncounted us juggalo population.

huh, I went back and set the link to "public," it might work now. I just dipped my toes in the open space and it was nice, but yeah

Thanks, I can see it now! I should do bike rides again. Weather's absolutely perfect for that this week, but I just have too much work.

totally awesome but I'm sure it was exhausting! I miss the west coast. blackberries are delicious. the season for them ended down here in june but I ate quite a few while they were around.

Those exist only in North and Central America apparently - I wouldn't mind trying them!
