But at least we got involved in Libya.

This, among other things, is why it's not strange that we disagree on who we would like to see as the next president. I think the USA should have stayed out of it altogether and pretty much all foreign affairs that involve killing people.

Iceland stood by during the Holocaust, so no surprise there.

If you are comparing the Lybian situation to the Holocaust and Iceland to the USA, you are delusional beyond redemption. Just go vote for Obama, ok.

I'm saying that someone who comes from a country that couldn't get out of bed to stop Hitler probably would see the deaths of people in other countries as someone else's problem to deal with.

I wouldn't say totally wrong, but sure it's a non-canonical Godwin's Law in this instance and not worth a retort.

Yeah that's the main part. Someone point me to a list of recent instances in which the United States has, like, unilaterally stuck out its neck to "avoid genocides."

I was using it more as a "this is why isolationism is stupid" than a "The U.S. is good at this." But at least we got involved in Libya.

Bless your heart. Mine says to let folks solve their own problems and focus on being an example country yourself, that looks after it's own, before telling others how to operate and introducing torture techniques to terrorists who act in the name of Christianity. Americans are brainwashed into thinking this is acceptable.

Libya & QADDAFI - FACTS THAT CAN'T BE DENIED
1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free
for all its citizens.

2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are
state-owned and loans given
to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.

3. Home considered a human right in Libya –
Gaddafi vowed that his parents
would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a
home. Gaddafi’s father has
died while him, his wife and his mother are still living
in a tent.

4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$
50,000) by the government
to buy their first apartment so to help start up the
family.

5. Education and medical treatments are free in
Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25%
of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.

6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career,
they would receive farming
land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and
livestock to kick- start their farms
– all for free.

7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical
facilities they need in Libya,
the government funds them to go abroad for it –
not only free but they get US
$2, 300/mth accommodation and car allowance.

8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government
subsidized 50% of the price.

9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0. 14 per liter.

10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves
amount to $150 billion – now
frozen globally.

11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after
graduation the state would
pay the average salary of the profession as if he or
she is employed until
employment is found.

12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to
the bank accounts of all
Libyan citizens.

13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US
$5 ,000

14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $ 0.15

15. 25% of Libyans have a university degree

16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation
project, known as the Great
Man-Made River project, to make water readily
available throughout the desert
country.

Whether the above is 100% accurate or not is besides the point. It's all essentially true. Nelson Mandela also supported Gaddhafi because he was against apartheid. How a peacefully inclined leader could be compared to Hitler and other mass killers is beyond me, help me understand Thom, but I can't link to GNN (Guerilla News Network) who made a list of all the ways Americans have become murderous invaders since the 1920's because it was shut down by hackers turned by busts. Reference to the birth of Facebook left unmentioned.

quoting this for the third time because it is mostly true from what I can gather but don't take my word for it, by all means investigate and get educated in these matters. just make sure not to use mainstream media as a citation. Here's a news report from a Russian owned network.

Here's a news report from a Russian owned network.

We (inexplicably) get RT on basic cable here; earlier in the year, when I was having really bad insomnia, I'd go lay on the couch and watch it until I fell asleep. It seems real benign at first, but its craziness sneaks up on you when you watch it for hours on end. Some of their talking heads make CBS seem tame.

The American media is just as broken as the Russian media, it just has different objectives. This is why I'm encouraging you to seek out the truth and not just buy what ever your fed through the mainstream media.
