Yeah, Babar, we've named, like, dozens of issues on which his positions are heinous. Want more? National Right to Work, ending birthright citizenship (there's that racism thing again!),
eliminating
WIC, repealing the 17th Amendment (dude loves him some plutocracy), eliminating LIHEAP, eliminating HUD. That's, like, 2 minutes of clicking around on his website.

I would find it interesting to hear what candidates you are eyeing towards, Jeb. I know you won't vote for Obama and you certainly don't like any of the republican candidates. Are you going to return an empty ballot or is there some third-party candidate that might vote for? If so, I would whole-heartedly encourage you to do that because the two-party system is so fundamentally flawed and I wish more Americans would vote for third-party candidates, if only to avoid a President Kang situation.
x-post: I'll check all that stuff out, blucas, thank you. but on the flipside, don't you think the patriot act is heinous? SOPA? PIPA? NDAA? Torture disguised as 'enhanced interrogation technique'? a war on terror and a war on drugs and wars in general? like hannah said, I guess it is a choice between two evils (thanks to the two-party system) and who you vote for comes down to what you value.

It's not just a difference in what you value, though. Between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, you're choosing between an imperial state with safe legal abortion and an imperial state without safe legal abortion, and yeah, that sucks, but between Barack Obama and Ron Paul, you're choosing between an imperial state with safe legal abortion and THUNDERDOME

I kinda hope Paul wins tonight, though, just so we can all watch Fox News shit itself in dismay.

I do enjoy the fact that Santorum is benefitting from being the last person the anti-Romney crowd hasn't tried supporting yet

I don't think Babar understands the difference between things Congress allows to be legal and things the president does.

So I guess now we have to endure a few more weeks of the media insisting that Santorum has any kind of chance at all, simply because he was the last non-Romney to be at the top of the pile before the caucuses. The narrative should really be that Santorum had to spend a million hours on the ground there to squeak out a second place "victory" while Romney virtually ignored Iowa, not spending any money or time there until a few weeks ago, really. But if everyone just acknowledged reality I'm not sure what would fill the gaping news hole.

I just had a conversation with my mother (who is very into politics, and did a lot of volunteer work on the Obama campaign last time around) about the primary and ended up explaining to her the Dan Savage/Santorum connection. That was a little awkward. Kind of funny though.
Santorum winning, while not particularly plausible, would be the best outcome for Obama, IMO, since I think voting against him might be one of the few things that could energize the youth vote in this election. In Obama's favor anyway.

I have to admit, I am interested in seeing Santorum have some successes as long as he suffers a crushing, crushing defeat later on, because I am a horrible person and want to see his kids cry on stage again.

Yeah, while I have no real illusions about Santorum getting the nomination, I almost do wish he would fucking sweep the primaries and clinch it (to the chagrin of pretty much every Republican politician), just because the debates would be full to bursting with robust and textured lulz. Also might get to see dude have a breakdown. That would be cool.
awesome x-post with cats

I forgot how vicious everyone was toward those kids in the aftermath of his defeat. That was delightful.

Thanks! Are there any characteristics about it you could describe? It's baseline normal for me, so it's hard for me to step outside myself and even think of it as being an accent.
