Guy at the bar last night, to me: "We're both awesome, probably because we were born in the 70s. What year were you born? '78? '74?"

I hate looking old.

Pretty sure I left my keys hanging in the mailbox yesterday and one of the many, many people who come and go to & from my upstairs neighbor's apartment snatched them. Also fairly certain it was one of these people who snagged D's bike a few weeks ago. They're a young couple who are constantly screaming at one another and throwing parties and have this constant stream of shady 19 year olds in and out of there. So now we have to get the locks changed on the apartment door, and we have only one key left to the Prius. I shudder to think how much it costs to replace one of those things. Also my office keys were on there, etc., etc. BLARGH

I'm right in assuming there's no point in filing a police report, right?

Yeah, I don't see what good that would do you.

What I recommend though is breaking in to the neighbor's place when they're not home and finding your keys.

Filing a police report would start a paper trail, which could possibly be useful if you end up needing to settle matters of liability, insurance, that sort of thing.

If they take the report seriously and actually file it

I'm totally the person who says "act like that money is gone as soon as you write a check so it doesn't suprise you when they cash it" but I haven't been living up to my talk and my landlords JUST NOW decided to cash my check from February so it was as if I paid double rent this month. But not really because they never cashed it the first time, but really because I don't have any money. Ugh.

Ugh, I have been so fucking tired this whole week—is it because of the time change? the weather? allergies?—and today it was too hot and I just feel like crap. Except I have this paper to write and it is so hard for me to concentrate.

Peacocks! When my landlords started doing this, I started sending them money orders.  They cost like, $1.50 each but what I saved in stress and overdraft charges was TOTALLY WORTH IT.

I also pay by postal money orders, and it's lowered my stress level about rent checks immensely.

I got punched in the face by a crazy drunk lady at the bus stop after work on Friday. She wanted money, and then she wanted cigarettes when I didn't have any money, and when I wouldn't give her anything she took my gym bag and threw it in the heavily trafficked street, and when I retrieved it and said WHAT THE FUCK YOU DO THAT FOR she punched me. The bus came, she said "there's your bus bitch," I replied "yes and I am getting on it," I did so, and that was the end.

I have ridden the same bus for four years and now I am so nervous about taking it again that my friend has insisted on driving me to and from work all this week. My lip is cut a little but other than that it could have been much worse, and I feel like logically I should be totally fine knowing that a) she was crazy and drunk b) this happened in broad daylight and was a statistical anomaly c) I do not wish to be viewed as a Tragic Wounded Figure Who Needs To Be Driven Everywhere. But I don't wanna take the bus right now, either.

It's on 2nd and Capitol. It's not the worst area, as areas go, and I'm not blaming anything besides being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

NNY, that's awful. I took the bus for years and never had something like that happen. I'd be spooked too. Give it a week or two and see how you feel. Seems completely normal (to be spooked, that is).
