Iggy, that is a lovely story, and totally the way sugary cereal should be given to children (one in a blue moon free-for-all). After a night of good tips, I bet your dad felt like a damn king buying that cereal for his kids. I know I would.
Aw damn, I'm real tired and your story is sorta making me tear up a little.

I just made hashbrowns for the first time ever! They were delicious! It was hard to squeeze all the water out of the potatoes but totally worth the effort. Bf seasoned them expertly. I didn't even remember to put hot sauce on them they were so good.

A guy I know, Mike Gebert, does a video podcast called Sky Full of Bacon. The newest episode is about the history of BBQ in Chicago and I thought it might be of interest to some of you folks (paging Thermo)

BTW this piece just got nominated for a James Beard award & you should watch it now if you didn't before

(I do 'get' that Mcdonalds n processed foods are both unacceptable because they offer cheap unhealthy food for people, many of which are in an economic class that can't afford to eat healthier,
because eating heathy is damn expensive
-- so, no I'm not OK with that but that's another thing)
is it really though? i mean you can go out and buy cheap cuts of meat (chicken thighs, turkey etc, minced beef) and a bunch of veggies and make awesome meals out of that which can last a single person days or feed a large family, and imagine it's not gonna cost that much more than your average big mac meal, unless like veggies and shit are insanely expensive in america. i think bad eating habits are down to a lack of food education and know how among the lower classes rather than a matter of expense.

It is if you want any variation in your diet, or if you're making food for just one person.

I liked it ok! I think I would do it in a chalupa next time though, if that's possible. I usually don't dig hard shells so that's one way to get me to eat one.

Not every taco bell will make you the chalupa with one. But, it can be done.

Hey, same here! I'm a soft taco guy all the way. But perversely I really liked the texture of the Doritos taco

I am both horrified and intrigued by this taco. I really hate Doritos though (except Cool Ranch) so probably not going to happen for me. Also the last time I asked them to replace the meat with beans in a taco at Taco Bell they gave me meat anyway so fuck them

Also: pink slime is no more disgusting or unhealthy or unethical or what the fuck ever else you might have to say about it than anything else that's going on meatwise. Rally against pink slime all you want, but rally against the entire meat industry then, and for fuck's sake please stop eating meat.

Pink slime is
way
grosser/unhealthier/less ethical than some good goddamn meat. I like my animals naturally raised, free of antibiotics, and not washed in ammonia.

it'd be great if all meat was like that though, and if people ate a lot less of it in general.

I originally became vegetarian for the reasons antero mentions, mainly. But after 7 years now that I have access to locally and farm raised organic fed meat I can't eat it. It's just gross to me now and I'm sure I'll feel.... Like a bloodmouth.

I feel Bloomish often.
Quote
Mr Leopold Bloom ate with relish the inner organs of beasts and fowls. He liked thick giblet soup, nutty gizzards, a stuffed roast heart, liverslices fried with crustcrumbs, fried hencods' roes. Most of all he liked grilled mutton kidneys which gave to his palate a fine tang of faintly scented urine.
My goal is to eat only a little meat every day, and have it be as perfect and decadent as possible. Have you ever had duck hearts? My god. Glory glory glory. I have absorbed the souls and powers of ducks.
