i have nothing invested in lil b, so i see this as absolutely terrible and trite lyrics, yelped over tired and cliche music, and played over some half-assed video of a dude walking around by the beach.

it's the sort of stuff that comes out when a 13 year old writes his first song after learning a few chords.

the first thing that came to mind when you said that was lupe fiasco's punk album (as "japanese cartoon") in which he fakes a british accent most of the time. it's pretty funny.

I was expecting something messy and interesting but it turns out far too proficient sounding by half. Considering guitar music's long history of seemingly poor but actually amazing outsider material he should maybe re-evaluate. Or someone could give him Jad Fair's phone number

The other surprising thing is that he's actually an amazing performer, between the pure "The Master" charisma and then the actual jams. Guy OWNS the venue. One of the best rap shows I've ever been to, and that includes M.C. Hammer on the "Too legit" tour, Ghostface at 3:00 a.m. on the Supreme Clientele tour, and the real M.F. Doom pre-doombots.
