Amazingly, I only just learned that Carrie Brownstein and Portlandia are one & the same. Not sure how I feel about that. Haven't seen the series yet, but wasn't planning to, either.
Haha, reminds me of when I went to see Wild Flag with my friend Thomas (not a Sleater-Kinney fan) last year, and as soon as they took the stage, he exclaimed "Hey, that's the girl from Portlandia!" And he was immediately more interested.

Still got this Sun Araw/Congos thing on a pretty permanent loop. I and I am enjoying it immensely.

Loving Megafaun today. Just heard their 2010 EP, Heretofore, for the first time (it's on spotify) and immediately bought myself a copy online. Yellow vinyl!
Gonna finally get around to buying their excellent 2011 album, too.

Now listening to the new Mt. Eerie record. It's on Spotify!
Had a brief listen earlier, but the house was mad and full of people at the time, so on a proper listen now. Sounding good!

Is this a recommendation KDSB? You've been my main source of tips this year!
np: Still Shackleton! I've disappeared down the rabbit hole with this new double album.

I'm undecided. It just arrived in the mail today so I've only listened to the first track on side one. But I liked what I heard. There's a definite hippy feel which is unsurprising considering the Vibracathedral Orchestra (who I like) links. It'll need a few plays but I'll keep you posted.
Your mention of Δkkord in the upcoming releases thread has me playing that first record again. So damn good!
That new Shackleton stuff has been getting a lot of play around here.

Finally bought this today. Sooo good.
I've been listening to a lot of
Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments
after seeing them last Saturday. Also been exhausting
this Deep Freeze Mice song
in the aftermath of the Wisconsin Scott Walker recall win.
Jeb/anyone else familiar with Wisconsin music, are bands out there writing anti-Walker songs?

jeb sent me a bunch of them when I was responding to a pro-Walker song posted on a local blog. Here's the comment I posted, with most of the youtube links jeb sent me:
http://chicagoist.com/2012/01/24/a_power_ballad_about_wi_gov_scott_w.php#comment-419872056
and a comment of mine just a bit up from there had this link to ifihadahifi's song Imperial Walker on Bandcamp:

I continue to be surprised (for 8 years or so) by how good The Cure's self-titled album is, especially since I
hated
'Bloodflowers'. I probably should listen to that again some time and see if my opinion of it has changed in the past decade.

I remember quite liking the front half of Bloodflowers, actually.

That's just the sort of album I'd buy on sight, whether or not I'd ever heard the music before. A cover like that means good times.
in NP news, Fiona Apple's new record is streaming at NPR:
http://www.npr.org/2012/06/10/154422085/first-listen-fiona-apple-the-idler-wheel?ps=cprs
I listened to just a few random clips and was
loving it
. This record sounds amazing so far. I'm not listening to anything else until the official release.

Alas, the only good times are the title song. But it's damn good times.

Yep, quite like it.
On the Cure front, I was so disillusioned by the terribleness of
Wish
that I haven't listened to any Cure from after that at all.
