I haven't been on for a week, having been diabolically busy at work, but I don't think I can take all the credit for the dip in activity.

4 years ago, you'd get 140 new topics and 10K posts a month, now it's a quarter of that. Since Khadafi became our last crew member and a couple of people took off in their ejector seats, I feel we're a bit like Springfield in the Simpsons movie. We've been sealed off and left to dwindle and die in here.

Sad

Sadly I think you're right. I'm sure LPTJ is the last thing on Lalitree's mind right now, but do you think it would be cool to write her and ask her to take the registration cap off?

I think that'd be a good idea. I also think that someone other than L should have admin access to deal with all the spambots and stuff. Who that person would be, I'm not sure. But I think it'd be a good idea.

I asked her for spambot-vetting powers last week!  She said sure, but that she had to figure out how to do it, and with young Roman doin' his thing, this seems to be low on the list of priorities.

Word, awesome! I'm glad you mailed her. I would just really like to see some new people; there are even a few folks I've met in the last couple years who I think would be great additions to the board.

It'll good to have another member with some admin privileges. It was good when the board kept falling over and we had he who shall not be named to at least fix that up.

On my walk home last night, I found this by the side of the road, laying alongside some dumbells and a archaic looking cassette storage unit.

(I'm still sick but almost better!)

Looking for apartments is really weird.  Especially when you're looking for a room in an apartment.  I emailed guy who has a clean, cheap place in an interesting area (I really like the place) and asked if cats were okay.  And he sent me this

Quote from: GIGATRON
OK...SOUND'S GOOD.......WELL NO !! PET'S ARE NOT OK !........BUT, IF YOU'RE COOL...THEN YOUR PET "HAS 2 B COOL"...?
I WASENT LOOKING FOR.."WITH PETS".. BUT JOSEPHINE THERE'S ALWAYS A 1 st.  (I'M VERY OPEN..2 THE THOUGHT)
CAN I SEE A PICTURE OF THE CAT...?........."TELL ME ABOUT THE CAT !!        LET'S TALK !   PATRICK.
DOES THE CAT LIKE "420"...?

With some pictures of the apartment and some pictures of himself (he's 50).

He called me tonight at 11:40 PM to tell me the cat was okay but he had to take a few days to imagine living with a cat.  He talked for 40 minutes about a lot of apartment related stuff.  His son (19) also lives there, but he just moved in recently.

I liked him!  He seems nice and considerate not remotely creepy (but a little weird).   Should I live with an old stoner dude and his son?

edit: I'm going to look at the place on friday.

i picture him living the next few days tripping over invisible cat, and waiting with the door open while "cat" decides whether he wants to go out or not, just to go back in, and being woken up by a cold "cat" nose in his face, and talking to "cat" and telling cat to stop clawing the couch.

he said he asked his sister if he could live with a cat they decided that people who love cats are loving people and everyone needs more love so someone with a cat must be good people.

i'm all for referring to old people as telegrams.

where's the basketball thread? i've only recently become familiar with the jeremy lin story and have started following knicks games just to root for him.

Look, the cat's not a stoner, the cat just likes to unwind at the end of a long day from time to time

there is never one master sinister plan.  there are a complex set of plans always in play at any given moment. with random rules.

also, how is a modern millionaire different from a classic millionaire?  don't they still laugh the same sinister laugh when they make a fool of you?
