(from here)

Pollo I think that combination is excellent. I wish I was a boy sometimes solely because I am unable to wear ties without someone accusing me of being Avril Lavigne.

Today I am wearing tall black suede boots, a knee-length denim skirt which was purchased at Goodwill while I was the most hungover I have been in years and which leads me to believe that I should shop for clothes while hungover at all times, and this shirt I got at Plato's Closet (hi peacocks) that is...hard to describe. It's long-sleeved and striped and has a line of polka dots at the hem and the sleeves kind of puff out at the wrists, it's kind of Rennaisance-y but not in a role-playing Ren-fair way.  And I like it. The thing I have learned from wearing all these skirts lately is the importance of having well-fitted tights. And that I look really good in boots. And that it is important to dress for your size, not sit there and go "in six months when I am a size 8 I will dress better."

Still no pictures.

HaHA that shirt sounds very Platos closet-y! In the way that most things I get compliments on or compliment others on are answered with "Platos" and then people are like "damn, I shoulda grabbed that". The "people" I'm talking about are the 2 friends I have that shop there btw.

I went to a party on Saturday where there was a rough theme of "1920s Prohibition", so I was told to wear a suit.  As it turns out, I was one of only like three guys there who ended up wearing a suit.  There were a number of compliments on it, but said compliments included some variation of either "Mad Men" or "Don Draper" no less than six times during the course of the night.

I wish I was a boy sometimes solely because I am unable to wear ties without someone accusing me of being Avril Lavigne.

The Avril Lavigne look is a tie over a tank top. Ties don't work without a collar. If there's a tie, there should be a collar and a tie without a collar is ugly regardless of sex. Now, if you'd wear a shirt and a tie there's no reason it shouldn't work just because you're a woman. I even, grudgingly, approve of tie + polo shirt because hey, there's a collar. A part of me is glad though, that Avril Lavigne ruined the tie look for girls. Ties are kind of the last frontier of men's clothes that are still predominantly worn by men. Centuries ago we had pants, jackets, shirts and even pantyhose were all manly attire. Now women can get away with wearing anything while men can't get away with wearing skirts, dresses or our long lost pantyhose. Having said that, guuuuuuuurl you betta get your tie on and put it in a collar!

Oh, also: I think wearing that suit was the reason this British dude cornered me and started talking about how he really wants to start a men's apparel company.  He was pretty intense about it, like "we gonna knife-fight" kind of intense.

At first I thought it might be the way his normal personality was, then I thought it might be because he was high on something, then I started to wonder if it was a cultural thing because of his Britishness.  As a result, without meaning to, I started getting way more American in my speech patterns; "Golly, that sounds great!  Sounds like y'all got this all figgered out!" all nodding my head and grinning.

It is a really nice day today! Clear, sunny, warm. It's about 77 degrees here. BRAGGIN'
So I decided to wear a dress I usually only wear in the summer time.
Shoes: brown fancy man shoe/mary jane things.
In the office I am wearing a black cardigan because I get chilly. I added red lipstick and that kind of tied the whole thing together.

what went right: this dress! I have been feeling crappy about my body lately so have been dressing all frumpy but a week ago my mom handed me this red lip gloss from the body shop she had an extra of and I've been feeling fly-er than ever.
what went wrong: the belt is weird. I can't get it to look just right and I have to stuff the extra in the back so I'm always adjusting it. Oh well.

are these a bad idea?  http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Mens-Ankle-Boots-Dress-or-Casual-Leather-Lined-Shoes-Lace-up-Slip-On-Pull-up-/170727499524

i've never really owned boots before, but i'm moving to portland in about a week. last time i was up there my toes got pretty cold and wet riding my bike with chucks on in the rain.

they're cheap and probably not the best quality, but i kinda like them and would rather not spend a million dollars on shoes.

Peacocks, you look adorable.

Tourist... those are so cheap that they're probably going to blow really hard.  The upper is made of pleather.

I may have a picture to post here in the future! I am getting a made to order suit, and have my fitting next Tuesday. Possibly it will look better than the $100 un-altered Tip Top Tailors thing I currently keep on hand for emergencies.

Well, it ain't bespoke, it is merely made to measure. It'll be made by our friends overseas, with my measurements taken here at the beginning and then alterations done at the end. But that's like halfway to classy.

They had a deal, their $1000 suit + their best fitted shirt + a sweet tie for $600. More than I like to spend on anything, really, but I totally don't have any decent dressy clothes at all.

Yeah that is a pretty sweet deal. Do you mean it's being tailored in India?
