I remember being 17 in college and my very rich and explicitly classist roommate (as in, took issue with a professor who discredited Social Darwinism with what he felt was unnecessary prejudice) got lice. He compelled everyone on the floor to shave their head and got really mad at me for refusing to do the same. He used to stand over me at my desk and claim he could see nits or whatever in my hair, and for some reason I took it as some kinda 'poor kid is unhygienic' thing. Since then I have strongly and perhaps irrationally opposed any attempt to compel a guy to shave his head.

I was going to say something about the jailhouse goatee but figure any kind of encouragement for a guy to change his hair (facial or hair hair) is reserved for bad girlfriends and is completely out of my zone. The hair is actually Good because it emphasizes the big brain look and would intimidate the shit out of somebody in a chess championship or any kind of competition based on smarts really. If I was in a spelling bee against you I'd be quaking in my boots.

Is it Washington Square Park where there's a bunch of chess hustlas that hang out in the southwest corner of the park, and there's a circle of benches with built-in chessboards on the tables? Tiny chess shop a few blocks away? Anyway I got my ass reamed there a few years ago and sorta quit chess after that, hurt my pride. Bros had weird arbitrary rules and shit tho.

Yeah, that was when I finally realized that me and speed chess just don't mix. I also played an hour or so against a potbellied Russian guy in Union Square Park, too -- I gathered he was sort of a well-known regular? He had a pretty daughter or relative who circled around taking pictures. Also this was right after Michael Jackson died and a DJ was coming out every night and spinning MJ tunes in the park, so I was getting my ass beat at chess by a classic by-the-numbers gruff Russian guy while Pretty Young Thing blared thunderously behind us.

Where can our nascent chess club play online? I used to play on Yahoo way back when.
