Y'all make a guy feel good.  It has been a long, rough week.  Also, miles and everyone who loves the ties and pocket squares: www.thetiebar.com.  Obvious shortcomings: cheap-ish ties, simple construction, most of their stock is kind of hideous.  Obvious benefits: $15 ties, some things that manage to be fashionable such as that seersucker fella there, the ability to build the backbone of a decent tie collection, which I probably have at this point.  Which is pretty awesome.

Also, because I can get stuff from them fast, and one time I even got to go to their offices and look at shit, if anybody wants to know how their materials and colors look IN PERSON, as the photos on their site are horrible, lemme know.  I've seen a lot of their stuff IRL.

It's true that some of their fabrics definitely have trouble holding a dimple.  But, some of them do it just fine.  That's a bit of a crapshoot, and while I don't know much about it one way or another, my serious used clothing hound buddy Don says that as they get older and more used, almost all the tie bar ties should get a little more supple and dimple-friendly.

That said, again: they cheap ties. But good to get started on.

black camisole
white chiffon spaghetti strap blouse with black abstract print

black ballet flats with sparkly toes

what worked: well, let's see ... several classic Bushwick car honks and a handful of wolf whistles, one wink from a guy who was in the middle of talking to another girl (rude!) and a phone number written on a scrap of paper and hastily shoved into my hand as the subway doors closed. i'd say the pants are winners. also, i got a haircut and put henna in it and it looks super cute if i do say so myself.

what didn't: that's a lot of black for my two-blond-dog household--looking kinda shabby at this point in the day.

what i learned: body confidence! woo-hoo!

edit: i would like to thank the mysterious psychopharmacology gods who, in their graciousness, have allowed me to find a combination of meds that has kept me getting trimmer, as well as whatever god is responsible for making sure that most of the weight comes off my waist and not my backside. thanks guys! i feel awesome.

I did a 10k run today, and threw my black backpack in the giant pile at the bag check station.  At the end of the race, in the bright sunlight, it was remarkably easy to pick out from afar -- it was the one absolutely covered in cat hair.
