I just bought the entire Sade catalog for $3.50!

Most classic Miles Davis albums less than $2!

Bruce Springsteen is covered!

Pearl Jam reissues at $.70!

Etc, etc!

Yeah, I was briefly excited by your post there and then I had a look at the list of artists on the Wikipedia page, and I was suddenly a lot less excited (though as you've mentioned, there is some good stuff, to be sure)

I mean... seriously do things like this not indicate that this medium is dead? Why in god's name would you spend .70c on a CD to have it packaged and shipped across the country? Is having it on the shelf really worth the labor, time and energy committed to getting it to you?

pollo, your argument could be made for just about any physical product that is non essential to human existance. yet, consumerism is what makes the world go 'round. how about you leave people to be excited about cheap cds without being a grumpy old man about it?

I think there's a case to be made that the greater good when faced with the decision to steal Kind of Blue or pay 70c to have Amazon pick it, pack it and ship it in order to help Sony BMG eliminate some lingering deadstock is to torrent that bitch.

I have found a few marketplace sellers with $0.70 or so CDs for a few albums but if this deal was actually through Amazon it appears to be over.

Glad I slipped my order in first thing! Ordered Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town, Slayer's South of Heaven, Enter the Wu-Tang and Stankonia for about ten bucks. Also found a used copy of Hum's You'd Prefer an Astronaut for .70 and threw that on the pile. With shipping, everything came to under fifteen bucks. Boffo!

I'm kind of w/ Pollo on this one, at least insofar as I don't really see the point in owning CDs any more. I only buy CDs now if they have especially cool packaging, are not available in any other format, or it's directly from a small touring band and I want to support them. And even in those cases the CDs hardly ever come down from the shelves, so they end up basically being ornamental.

This was, however, while it lasted, a pretty sweet deal, all things considered.
