I found the first couple eps of S2 so mean-spirited and awful that I never bothered coming back

Love that Eastbound. I still haven't seen the last few eps of season three.

I don't remember it being any worse than the first season. The third season had some pretty great stuff. Steve forced by Will Farrell to pretend to be a Japanese geisha for the Korean reps visiting from Kia... like him walking around serving them. Kenny having a party that no one shows up to.... his romance with an ugly college chick... his friend who dies and how Kenny tries to put the title of the truck in his name.. a truck which has doors that open UP

You just listed pretty much my least favorite things about this season (except for the car thing, which is kind of awesome), but I really loved this season too. Initially I stopped watching the show after two or three episodes because I just didn't care enough about most of the characters, but I resumed watching a few weeks ago and grew to love most of it - McBride is a genius in this. I loved all the stuff with him interacting with baby Toby, too. And despite the show being based on really crass and offensive humor, it gets very moving as it goes on. While still being offensive and funny.

I read this as being about The Office.

He was excellent in All the Real Girls. His character's name was Bust-Ass and he was this goofy, hilarious idiot who tagged along with the grown-up hometown loser crew.

And I liked him in Pineapple Express, too, but I can totally understand hating his guts.

Also excellent in All The Real Girls: a younger, pre-MPDG Zooey Deschanel.

I love Danny McBride in basically everything. Except 30 Minutes or Less, but nobody came out of that one looking good.

I watched that over lunch and I thought it was merely okay. I'm sure it'll pick up steam after a while though, so I'll keep watching.

I liked it a lot! But I guess that's probably not surprising at all.

I hope Veep gets better, 'cause I really want it to be as good as In The Loop and such.

I started watching Frozen Planet in the background while doing work/chores, and it took me a while before I noticed that Alec Baldwin is the narrator. Now it's really distracting, though in a kind of amusing way, since I can't shake the feeling that it's Jack Donaghy talking about the dominant elephant seal being "the beach master."

i know. i said I hated it. I think this is going to be one of those things I love to hate. and the more I think about it and have tried to describe my hatred in reasoned arguments the more I say things like "but they are real charact- oh shit. no, that's not a bad thing."

Same here. The first ten minutes were *really* weak, but it did have some clever moments. Pilot episode, after all.

Which reminds me - I recently watched this based on your recommendation a while back. I liked it okay, but, it didn't blow me away. It kind of felt like you could tell that all of Zooey Deschanel's actions were written by a man.

I am super, super bummed out to be almost done with all of the extant episodes of Peep Show. Probably my favorite TV discovery of the year so far. What's really remarkable is the consistency of the writing; it has its weak episodes, but the humor is fairly dead-on through 7 (albeit six-episode) seasons! I see now that Jesse Armstrong, one of the head writers, was also a main writer on The Thick of It.
