I just gave my students a group project presentation assignment where they have to do a comparative analysis of several different media texts and examine their biases, ideological leanings, rhetoric, etc. I've got a group doing Lil B and his various representations in popular music and hip hop culture.

After a little informal poll, it was determined that about 50% of the class knows who Lil B is, and 100% of that 50% either outright hate him or dislike him but find him fascinating. Three of my kids called him "garbage"

Hey, turns out pollo's not the only prof using Lil B. The UC Berkeley prof & linguist commentator on Fresh Air, Geoffrey Nunberg, apparently uses "Age of Information" & other tracks in his lectures now.

Nah, I thought it was pretty respectful. They chose some gem tweets, like this one:
