Eventually I just hope to be a decently healthy overweight dude who goes to the gym 3-5 times/week.
This is my goal as well! I actually don't even want to not be a little overweight. Does that make sense?

I once tried Weight Watchers, and one of the things that annoyed me most is that they wouldn't let me set a target weight that left me in the overweight category on the BMI. Fuckers. Glad I only had a free trial, and I quit before they started charging me. I wanted (and still want) to lose weight, but I was totally fine remaining on the bigger/curvier side of things. When I've been in great shape before, I was on the lower side of the overweight category, but also just stronger than I am now too, and that's where my ideal physical shape would be I think.

That doesn't sound very strategic on their part.

You mean that you care about health and fitness and don't care where it lands you in terms of weight? Or that you want to get healthier and maintain your current weight?
Weightlifting will help you maintain or gain weight but you're going to have to lift heavy and eat a lot. I have a hard time eating enough to progress with weightlifting.

That I want to be healthy and feel good but I don't put much stock in BMI, and that what I feel is my ideal weight is still technically in the "overweight" category

I reckon it'd just make me cranky.
I am supposed to be running 5k tomoz, but I'm still kind of sick and haven't run in well over a week. I went to the gym and did my boxing class yesterday, and my legs hurt like shit. I am miserable.

Running a 3 miler (not a 5k) on Wednesday. Hoping to break 20 but will be happy with anything under 21. It's crazy how fast I can get in shape. When this thread was created end of February I was second fattest. Now I'm in decent shape

I was in a bad mood. I ran for 90 minutes straight.
Now I'm in a good mood and I'm drinking. Exercise and alcohol are like God and the devil. You need em both to have a decent religious epiphany.

I was feeling sorry for myself so I bought me a new scale. It's
It says my bodyfat is 15.1%! That's about right on with when I used calipers. It's the best scale ever. It has the INTERNET bitches. My scale is on the INTERNET, and has an account on LPTJ.

Oh and ... 15% is average for a male! I am no longer "fat" or whatever, technically. You are talking to an average body fat dude, now. That's right. I'm getting a card in the mail and everything, from the health pyramid guys.

I'm interested in the charting potential. It does all kinds of swanky charts. I'd like to do some ultra endurance type stuff in the future, and I hear it melds nicely with an iphone app called Runkeeper which would be nice for training for that type of shit. That's a bit far off, I suppose, but one must get prepared, right? On page 2 of that very long review there's some images of the cool graphs you can look at.

milly, based on the exercise you've been doing, I bet your body fat is actually lower than 15% -- you need to get that measured with calipers by somebody who knows how to do it
dis guru is the trainer I used to work with before school started (sucking the life out of me) -- 12+ years of experience as trainer and competitor

Wow 15%! I finally hit 30% today (but I know it won't last).
I got the results from my 5k run yesterday. I came 486th (out of 1291) and 67th in my category (women 40-49). All of which, while not mindblowing at all, is quite reassuring really. Especially given I've been sick for a week and a half. I actually feel better for having run yesterday, but still a bit sinusy and chesty...
