Who are you guys kidding, you guys probably all loved Lost in Translation when it came out
nope
I didn't hate it until I started hearing what the director meant it to be. I thought it was just moderately moronic but I just like Bill Murray's unsmiling face so much, I don't care all that much what he's doing. Then all the script prize winning and "my love letter to Japan" and "people feeling alienated in foreign cities" got started and I got real stabby.

I watched His Girl Friday and I Was a Male War Bride tonight back to back. I liked IWAMWB better overall but HGF was pretty thoroughly fun.

The more I think about it though, I like His Girl Friday better. I keep going back to the guy hiding in the rolltop desk and the fast talking and complete mayhem throughout the entire movie. It's great!

Yeah, she's basically good at looking hot in expensive clothes
She's about the least sexy good looking person ever.
That girl can wear a Herve Ledger dress like a boss.

Projecting a conventional form of attractiveness in a three thousand dollar dress is a laudable skillset

Man going from Blake Lively directly to Meryl Streep or vice versa is fucking dangerous, dogg, like surfacing without decompressing.

Savages: better or worse than The River Wild? SUBQUESTION: Kevin Bacon or Salyma Hayek: who is more menacing

Did the people making the new batman movies learn nothing from the people who made the last round. Shit looks like Transformers 4.
Also, the new Bourne movie looks badass. Those are such fun movies.

Watched "Don't Look Now" with donald sutherland and julia christie, supposed to be a really good horror movie. was actually pretty boring.
I didn't really care too much about man who fell to earth either, shoulda figured.

Glad to hear it's not just me who really doesn't feel Roeg, Peacocks. I rewatched
Man Who Fell To Earth
last year, and found it nigh-uncomprehensible in a sort of deflating way, and after hearing what a stone-cold classic
Don't Look Now
was supposed to be, I think I barely made it through it.
Had a total dud run last night:
Dogtooth
I'd heard such violent responses to, both positive and negative, that I thought I should give it a go. While i didn't hate it like Edison did, I was thoroughly bored! I love slow moving as much as the next guy, but this felt like some pointless Haneke-lite. So then I thought I'd go for something completely different, and put on
Time Bandits
, which I'd always heard about in the same breath as like,
Flight of the Navigator
and
Labyrinth
, and which was so god awful I turned it off. I've seen better character development in Dilbert cartoons.
I've got
Cat on a hot tin roof
and
Deep End
ready and waiting, though, so hopefully they'll be fun.

Hey don't worry, they only completely excised Mars from the plot and it's being directed by the dude who made the first two Underworld movies and Live Free Or Die Hard

No joke, the original
Total Recall
is by some distance my favourite Phillip K Dick film adaption. I overindulged in
Blade Runner
as a callow, moody teenager, so now its pretentiousness and on-the-nose treatment of its central themes irritate me. While it is clearly the better made film (no denying the awesome visual desing),
Total Recall
is more fun to watch.
