I searched but the only time he's mentioned him is in a lukewarm review of Clams' set at pitchfork (he mostly seems familiar with Clams through A$AP). I'd imagine bruh doesn't listen to anything he doesn't get a promo of.
Every time I read a DeRogatis piece about a rap artist I want to hit him with something, anything, until he stops.

Oh man, I missed all this fun!
My question was a serious expression of genuine befuddlement!  I struggle to see anything transformational about this guy; it actually feels fully cynical.  I would have loved someone to try and unpack it for me, but somehow in raising the question all I got was the same pushback that I complained about in my original post.
My "R&B Ken Mehlman" call is a more of a political call, and I think I have to stand by it.

Also, I love R&B.  Put this record next to Ne-Yo and it doesn't stand up.

When I say compulsory enthusiasm, what I mean is the same thing I experience with mainstream gay dudes when I try to express what makes me uncomfortable about Lady Gaga. I do not doubt that people actually like Lady Gaga!

Of course it's not fucking OK that you don't like someone who other people like. I can't imagine why you'd think otherwise.
