Man, sometimes I just feel like I'm not in tune with my fantasy lineups. I've gotta find a way to keep Carlos Pena, Chris Davis, Ryan Zimmerman, and Lucas Duda all in my lineup in my points league. And starting Jon Lester instead of Jason Hammel cost me 50 points. Damn.

Ha! My 50 cent picks finished first on Talking Chop again. And only 4 out of the 6 picks scored any points. Maybe I should do 50 cent picks every day.

The Braves have fared well against Strasburg for the most part so far in his career. Should be a fun game to see.
Dang Thermo, another gem for McDonald today.

I thought the O's were having a rough stretch, but the Braves are 2-8 in their last ten? What's the story there?

They lost 8 in a row before last night. They spent the week without Chipper, McCann, and Freeman. You lose your 3-4-6 hitters all at once and there will be problems. Not to mention Minor had a couple rough starts and Hanson got knocked around a bit as well.

Luckily, the entire NL East is beating the crap out of each other so far, so we're still only 3 games out of first.

Ugh, yeah, that latest injury - Lucroy breaking his hand because a suitcase fell off a hotel bed and landed on it - is the stuff of black magic hexes. Buccos play the Brew Crew this weekend and Miller Park is a stadium that the Pirates simply cannot win in, so I wouldn't be surprised if Milwaukee still managed to eke out a couple wins.

So the Braves apparently sent Pastornicky down to AAA tonight and called up Andrelton Simmons from AA, which is a pretty surprising move. Although after the last couple games of seeing so many ground balls find their way through the middle of the field, I guess it kinda makes sense. Jack Wilson hasn't turned out to be the defensive stalwart they expected, and he's been downright awful at the plate. Pastornicky got the nod over Simmons because his bat is slightly better, but he hasn't done a lot with it so far, and his defense has been really spotty, lots of mental errors. Simmons has been raking at AA and he's probably in the top 5 defensive shortstops at any level of baseball right now. Tim Hudson and Jonny Venters are probably crying tears of joy at this move. I'm surprised it happened right now, but excited for Simmons to hit the big time.

Also, Jamie Moyer became probably the oldest player to ever be DFA'ed. Somebody will take a flier on him from waivers. My money is on the Twins or Padres.

Pick six theme today: Only six teams play, so one player from each team. Greinke/Salty/MiggyCabs/Altuve/Cuddyer/Kenley Jansen

Yeah, I like the move, but it's pretty unlike the Braves to do something like this at this point in the season.

I suppose it is about the time of the year when teams start calling up prospects to push arbitration on Super 2 players back a year. Hopefully the Royals don't call up Wil Myers this afternoon before I get a chance to see him play tonight...

I hate to hear that, he was a damn rock at shortstop for the Bucs. I was downright sad when they traded him. His batting has been inconsistent for a while though.

Man it's times like this when I really miss having RavingLunatic around.
I also liked it yesterday when USA Today reported the Cubs were looking to move Starlin Castro, and all the Pirates beat writers started losing their shit. I was all
??? Epstein & Co shot that one down though.

Yeah, some office guy said that the Cubs were willing to listen on ANYBODY except Samardzjia and all the baseball folks in my Twitter feed got all in a kerfuffle.

Holy crap, I just noticed that if all the teams in the NL East and AL East were in one giant division, the 10th place team (Boston) would only be 3.5 games out of first.
