They just mentioned that on the Bucs broadcast! Could be a VERY INTERESTING first for those Metropolitans

8 innings now. Santana's at 122 pitches. The 9th inning is big decision time.

The Mets had apparently had a 110 pitch limit on him what with the coming off of surgery and all. His career high is 125. He's apparently coming back out for the 9th. To face Holliday, Craig, and Freese. INTENSE.

Damn, nicely done! One less thing we can make fun of the Mets for. And yeah I bet the NY sports media would've caused a shitstorm if they hadn't let him pitch in the 9th.

Santana's fastball has lost a few ticks, but that changeup is still great.

They oughta let him skip a start after that. Mets 26th in team ERA anyway (by the way, Braves are 22nd? surprising)

Not to say I told you so or anything, but as of today, E5 is my highest scoring fantasy player -- above Votto, Cano, Tulowitzki, Uggla, Beltre, Shields, Cain, Sabathia, etc etc etc.
The second-highest-scoring batter on my team, Josh Reddick (who I picked up for free), is
40 points behind him.

Haha, yeah, every time I see that he does something, I keep thinking "I hope Davy didn't take my advice on E5." It's just weird because he's usually so bad.

Does your fantasy league go on traditional stats like BA or does they use sabermetrics? His OPS is up in the .900s this season, pretty surprising.

Whoa, Thermo, the Bucs just drafter Marc Appel. Kinda crazy that he fell to them. Could blow up the rest of their draft with the new spending rules, but a pitching prospect trio of Taillon/Cole/Appel might just rival the Mariners trio of Hultzen/Paxton/Walker

I guess Arizona has Bauer/Skaggs/Bradley too who could all be pretty good. And the Orioles have Bundy/any other 2 assholes on the face of the earth who could compete.

You're right though, the new draft rules from the last CBA really stink. By design, they hurt small-market teams like the Pirates, who've done heavy spending in the draft to make up for their inability to sign high-value free agents. Really going to be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah, I don't like the new limits much at all. The Pirates apparently have been allotted 6.6 mil for the first 10 rounds. They can go up to 6.9 and pay a penalty on the 300 grand they go over. If they go over 6.9 then they lose picks in next year's draft. Appel was apparently asking in the neighborhood of 6 mil. Boras is his agent, so he's gonna get paid. We'll see...

Dang, and Jarrod Parker no-hit the Rangers through 7 innings tonight for Oakland. He's going to end up being better than Cahill overall, and might just be better than Cahill already this year. If the D-Backs had held onto him... yikes...

Haha I'm not sure who that comparison is more unfair to, McLouth or River Cuomo.
